Parade group photo!

In case you haven't seen it, the group photo is at:

http://www.dragonscales.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=46&pid=23062

There's a bit of a trick here, these files are large enough that clicking on it for the 'full view' doesn't quite get you the full view. Once you have the 'full view' pop-up window, right click and save that image and then you can zoom in to the full hugeness.

Thanks everyone for being patient while we took the picture!

Anthrocon 2011 Charity Event Followup

Hi, and welcome to the 2011 edition of the Anthrocon Charity Event Followup!

Anthrocon raised a total of $11,522 for the Toonseum, our supported charity this year. Thanks very much to Joe Wos, Jim & Crystal Martin, and all the volunteers from the Toonseum who came out to participate!

Importantly, gratitude goes to all the donors who contributed artwork and merchandise to the auction and raffle, and to those who bid at the auction or bought raffle tickets. This is what makes the event go, so recognition of their philanthropy cannot be understated.

Special thanks to the Westin, Omni, and DoubleTree who each generously offered up a four-night stay during Anthrocon 2012.

I would like to give thanks to my staff who helped conduct both the charity auction and raffle. None of this could've occurred without the assistance of Mike "Mrianti" Pierce, Trevor "Mr. Mutt" Boyd, Shaun "Stahi" Daugherty, and Kevin "Dax" Dzierwinski. My great appreciation also goes to Dr. Sam "Uncle Kage" Conway for his auctioneering talents.

More thanks go to 2, the Ranting Gryphon, and again to Dr. Conway for generously contributing the proceeds of their Sunday benefit comedy show to the charity.

Some raffle items not claimed on Sunday were donated to the Toonseum for their use.

Finally, here are all the details.

Charity Auction (in no particular order) [donor - item - sale price]:

Charlie Groark - Pre-production art print from "The Last Unicorn", signed - $50

PA Furries at Anthrocon

Just a heads up for any Pennsylvania Furries who aren't on the PA Furries board. We're having a PA Furries meet-up on Thursday night at 10pm in the Zoo.  There will be a lovely sign in the shape of PA for easy locating.  It'll be a great opportunity to meet up with other furs from the Keystone state.  =)

Anthrocon adds new safety features!

The health and well-being of our attendees is of the absolute highest importance to us.  After all, Anthrocon is all about having fun, and nothing spoils that fun more than a twisted ankle or an overheated fursuit or "I'm too old to dance like that anymore!"

The Dorsai Irregulars are the finest Safety and Security crew that the world has to offer, but as Anthrocon grows even those tireless heroes need a sidekick to help out in a pinch.  With the cooperation of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and the City of Pittsburgh, we have arranged to have some folks hanging out with us whose sole job will be to come a-runnin' when we need a hand.

(+) THE ROOFTOP TERRACE WILL BE OPEN TO ANTHROCON ATTENDEES!  Hours will be posted on the doors or nearby.  There will be some helpful DLCC staffers stationed up there to make sure that nobody runs into any trouble and they will be happy to point out some of the features of the city and the surrounding scenery.

(+) Our beloved Allegheny County Deputy Kisner will be joining us as always in the Westin lobby to help fend off any Blue Meanies, and this year he's bringing along a colleague that has been eager to come see Anthrocon for himself.  He'll be hanging out in the DLCC during the dances in case any Blue Meanies get past Mr. Kisner.  We asked him if he's allowed to dance while in uniform.  His reply:  "Long as there are no pictures."  Cameras off, then, if he starts feeling the beat!  The Allegheny County Sheriffs have always been very fun and furry-friendly and Anthrocon is grateful to them for coming in during their off-hours to help us keep things safe.
