This forum serves the following purpose:

- If you cannot afford to travel to Anthrocon and would like to find someone who can perhaps give you a ride, you can ask here.

These forums have been very useful in the past for many of our members. In order that they remain useful, we ask that users observe some simple points of courtesy:

1) You should put your starting location in the subject line. It will make it much easier for potential rides/riders to hook up with you if the subject line says "Looking for a ride from Chicago, IL."

2) Please only respond in the affirmative. It is a waste of time (and bandwidth) for you to post "sorry, can't help you." It's also a little mean, as the hopeful poster will see a followup to his message and think that he has found a ride, only to be rudely disappointed.

3) Once you have secured a ride, please comment on your original post to that effect. It will help us keep the forums from getting cluttered if we can remove months-old posts from people who are already set. The less cluttered the forums, the easier it will be for people to find the information they are looking for.

4) Keep in touch with your ride! Plans change, particular if you make your arrangements many months in advance. If you have committed to offer a ride to someone, they should be the first ones to know about any change in plans. Anthrocon is providing this board as a courtesy to our members and offers no guarantees of delivery, and cannot be involved in any disputes arising from the use of this service. We encourage our members to practice appropriate prudence in agreeing to offer or accept rides from persons unknown to them.

5) Make sure that all details of the arrangement are agreed upon in advance. Will you share gas money? Tolls? Will there be smoking permitted? Who else will be in the car? Will there be room for your luggage?

6) Before posting here, please check the Ride to Offer forum to make sure that rides are not already being offered from your area!

We hope you find this forum useful!
