Okay, I was lucky enough and had the ability to afford my own hotel room (roommate inquire via E-mail), but should I call to check on the status of my hotel room? I guess that there were some rumours going around last year that reservations were cancelled by accident when they shouldn't have (though EXTREMELY unlikely). Comments? |

I always recommend checking about a month out or so (now =) to just be sure.

permalinkIf you want, (supposing it's a Westin reservation),
you can use your reservation confirmation# and check it online
anytime you want.
When I called a few months back, they hadn't merged the
Anthrocon reservations with the main reservations, but I left
a message, and they called me back minutes later to confirm it.

permalinkOh yes, double checking your reservation a month or so out is a MUST! And confirm all the details you've given them too. It is much easier to straighten out a hiccup a month out than while standing at the desk at the start of the convention.

I double-checked my reservation online with my confirmation number, and the reservation is still in place. Yay!
I'm really happy to stay in the Westin this year. The convenience is a godsend. O_O
Whilst I didn't have a problem walking from the Omni to the Westin, it became more of an annoyance than anything else. Good exercise, but when it was sunny, it was hot! (Fursuiters, I think I know how you feel, since a few days out of the week I was in a full business suit. *pant pant pant*)
Case in point, should everyone check on their reservations?
Uncle Kagé had mentioned a while ago stating that if for some reason out of the blue that you would no longer be able to attend to call in and cancel the reservation, just so that a room would be available for someone who really needs it!
Luckily for me, I reserved a room for myself. Some furs might get miffed about it, though, I'm worried, anyone who wanted to stay in the Westin would want to share a room (if at all possible). I'm open to the idea, but considering on how close it is now to AC, and I have received absolutely no E-mails concerned about sharing a room, I don't think that will be a possibility any longer. My apologies.
I'm working out some plans right now for fun things to do during my free time (when I'm not assisting registration). I wanted to have a pizza party (on my account, NOT Anthrocon's!) for a select group of furs. I don't know if I'll be able to get that to happen. I know most furs love pizza and I want to contribute in some way.
Also, I'm *really* interested in meeting Rob Paulsen. Turns out I knew more about the guy than I realised, relishing in his voice work for years and not even knowing it (it pays the read the credits, kids.) Last year I had the fortune of meeting Mr. Scott Shaw! and even got my shirt autographed by him. Thank you!
Back on the hotel issue, thanks to the Westin for allowing us to do what we do best -- have fun!

We are all extremely busy in these last days running up to the convention. What I suggest instead is calling the hotel directly and confirming both your reservation number, and your confirmation number. Having a real person read back the details of my reservation makes me feel more secure than checking online, personally
Make sure you write down your confirmation number! Never lose this!

Does the hotel actually have phone service/devices that can field that kind of call?
If so, huzzah for becoming more accessible!

They have a reservations department if that's what you're asking.

Well, yes, i knew that. I was more curious if they'd started fielding calls from deaf-enabled phones.

D'oh, I guess it would help if I read back through the thread.
So it looks like the question is if the Westin has TDD service? I will investigate and get back to you.

*giggles* I wouldn't stress it.
Technically, it didn't even appear in this thread--i just remember cesarin mentioning that he's deaf in an older thread, which was why he needed staff help in setting up the reservation.

Personally I allways print out a copy of my reservation confirmation page, did so in today in fact. That way I will have a copy of the confirmation printed from their website on-hand when I check in.

This is excellent advice that I follow for every hotel and motel I stay at. Comes in very handy for overcharges and missing reservations.

permalinkOh yes, Never Never Never try and check into a hotel without your confirmation number in your hot little hand. If you've used their website to reserve the room, a print out of the confirmation page is a very good thing.
That number is gold.

Every time I travel to a con, I dedicate a new manilla folder to hold printouts of everything about the con. That includes:
- Plane tickets
- Rental car info
- Hotel room info
- Info on any roommates
- etc.
It's great to have everything in one place when I'm traveling around, and easily accessible.
