I've made a not-quite-completely-thorough-but-thorough-enough search of this forum and there does not seem to be a place to advertise goods intended for Anthrocon goers, if those goods are not going to be at Anthrocon itself. In the "Classifieds" area the posting rules suggest there are "plenty of other forums and sites" to do this sort of advertising. Is there any place on the Anthrocon forums that would be OK to do this kind of advertising on? |

Do... Not... Want?
Honestly, I like the idea of folks being able to shout about their unique wares or other things they may be selling, but the whole system would break down with everyone advertising everything down to folks having 'yard sales' at the con. Needless to say, I see some tax law violations here. I'm gonna stick with policy here and say no advertising past asking questions about interest in particular art projects.
There are other places to shout about stuff.

On the Anthrocon forums? The only permissible forum would be the classified forum.
Other websites? Well, we don't keep a list, but a good starting point would be the "websites" category on WikiFur.

In general, we only offer advertising opportunities to registered dealers who intend to be selling their wares at Anthrocon. Those dealers are welcome to use our "classifieds" forum, and likewise can take advantage of advertising opportunities in our convention book, the registration bags, and through sponsorships of certain events.
We do not accept general advertising on this site. As previously mentioned, there are multitudes of places to do so elsewhere on the internet.

permalinkThat makes sense.
The only reason he was asking at all was that it's actually AnthroCon-SPECIFIC.
He's able to do some door-hanger signs, despite being unable to attend this year. (Not from lack of trying.)
Would the usual rule still apply, or would this be an exception? Currently, there's nobody else making them who HAS advertised and IS attending...

You raise a good point. Since it is Anthrocon-specific, I think that it would indeed be appropriate for him to advertise in our "classifieds" forum.

I shall notify him so he can get to posting it- and thus to drawing frantically.

Thank you very much. In order to keep with the spirit of the forums, I will be sure to limit the availability of these to only those attending AC.
