So, my lovely daughter made the big anime eyes at me to make her a fursuit, and as a Dad, they are hard to resist. I have a lifetime of experience of costume making, so its not daunting. Going to make her a head and glove/paws, let her wear clothes for the body (She's 11 and never worn a big costume before so don't want to tax her too much). After reading over many websites, I'm going with Nicodemus' method for doing a carved foam head. I've done foam carving before so that'll help and I like the no fuss design, one piece, easy for her to slip on and off. And I've sewed and glued miles of fake fur in the past, so that's easy enough. I'm a little worried about what eye method to use. I like the look of the plastic cut out eyes with the mesh in the pupils. I had thought of using cheap sunglass lenses in the pupils to give her clearer vision. So, oh experienced ones, which technique to you like for making eyes? Any good visual examples online that I can look at for construction tips? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

I used a pair of kitchen strainers. It is not the best method, they are not very "crisp" to look at, but they do allow air to circulate and you can see OK through them. Since she is 11 years old, something that is not too confining might be better for her. Here are pictures taken of the work in progress:
