Do you have stage hand experience? Are you familiar with Professional A/V gear? Perhaps you've always wanted to work in that environment but you've never had a chance?

Anthrocon's A/V staff is looking for volunteers for the 2007 convention, Thursday the 5th through Sunday the 8th. We run all of the equipment in the Spirit of Pittsburgh ballroom for all the events which occur there, and we help setup and support various pieces of equipment in the Convention Center and Hotel panel rooms.

We need people who are quick learners, good with technology, and cool under pressure. We operate in a very high pressure environement, so this part is crucial. While not critical, it helps if you're comfortable being on stage when needed as well. Past experience is nice, but not required. I can train people on all of the equipment we use.

Sound like something you'd like to do? e-mail me at smblion (at) anthrocon [dot] org and we'll talk!

It's too bad. I'd love to be one of these people, but it just probably isn't the right thing to do my first con (and needless to say first AC), where I've got to experience as much of the con as possible in the time allotted!

Eh, someday. I promise. Eye-wink

No Problem!! I've had several offers since posting this, and it would appear we are now 'in the clear' Smiling

Im good with tech, Im a fast learner, but I have HORRIBLE stage fright so bad that I once tried to enter the spelling bee and spelled "Maple" M A P A L

Also, Ive tried to get into Drama and always figit up on stage, so yeah..... Unless you gave me a behind the scenes stage ninja job, I dont think I could perform very well.

Though, it is one issue ive always wanted to overcome

I appreciate your response! I've received enough offers now that I think my department is okay on volunteers for this year Smiling

If you have any spare A/V guys, the puppet track could use them.

If there was a 'behind the stage ninja job' I think I would have foregone my inhibitions and simply volunteered for it ;p

But it would have to be _pretty_ hardcore. Not that a 'behind the stage ninja job' would be anything but. Eye-wink
