Thursday night is entirely informal social events.
Opening ceremonies are 11 AM on Friday, July 6.
Closing ceremonies are 6 PM on Sunday, July 8.

permalinkJust some meet and greet stuff on the 5th. Maybe some stuff with the GOH, but its nothing formal. At least thats what they did last year.

There's a dance in the Spirit of Pittsburgh ballroom starting at 11:00pm as well (on Thursday the 5th). That's the main ballroom in the Convention Center. It will run until 2am.

Also to note, Registration will be going on during the 5th, so you can get your official convention badge, conbook, and schedule.
And, if you'd like, you can volunteer! Registration, the art show, and other departments will be setting up on the 5th, so there's ample opportunity to pitch in. It's a good way to meet others and pass the time.
On the 6th, panels, the dealer's room, art show, and other scheduled events begin following Opening Ceremonies.
