Hi! Villicent here, winged mammal of the night. This year I will once again be attempting to gather unto myself those bats in the fandom who would like to accompany me for a lunch, probably on Saturday, where (what will hopefully be) a bunch of us can eat whatever it is we eat (a rare steak for me, maybe squash and mango salsa for you?) and discuss... bat stuff, I guess. ^^ I'd like to coordinate with anyone who'd be interested, so feel free to email (krichevskoy at gmail dot com). I'll be willing to share my phone number via email. I look forward to seeing plenty of chiroptera at the con! |

permalinkPresently, I'm open to suggestions for where to actually eat. I'm not a native Pittsburgher.
Tentatively, before I see the little schedule booklet, I'm planning to be in the Westin lobby between 1 and 2 in the PM, and gather folks as they come. If it looks like it'll conflict with anything awesome (like with elephants, or one of those vodka waterfall ice sculpture things), I'll make an emergency reschedule to a 'bat dinner.'
All the more reason to swap contact info beforehand, I suppose.

Actually, meeting in the lobby is not recommended due to space constraints. You might want to consider meeting up in the bar, the coffee shop, the 2nd floor foyer, or The Zoo.

permalinkOh, right! Zoo! Stupid me... yeah, that's good too.
Change that to the Zoo.
Thanks for the heads up.

No problem! I know everyone is excited about the upcoming con and it's tough to remember all the little stuff when putting together plans
I hope the lunch outing goes well for you!

permalinkYes, PLEASE. Do your Security Team a favor and use the Zoo as you meet point.
The Lobby is far too small and way too crowded to groups to be hanging about.

Yes, please do, our security team has a lot to deal with even if we all do what we can not to add to their workload. I had the privilege of hanging out with them and helping out what I was able to at another con they worked a little while back. And even at that con which is much smaller then our beloved AC they had more then enough to do/worry about. So its hard for me to imagine how they manage AC as well as they do.

permalinkOkay, new update: I've been coordinating with Arcturax, who had the same idea. We're going to meet Friday, after the opening ceremonies. Probably noonish. At the Zoo.
Definitely not in the lobby. Totally in the Zoo. Definitely, definitely the Zoo.
We've got a short list of places that will be (a) open, (b) agreeable to a broad range of folks and (c) affordable to a broad range of folks. We'll do a quick vote before we leave.
