Gahhh! I just double checked my reservation.. and it has my checking out on Sunday. It's supposed to be Monday. Eek! I went to the hotel page to try to change it.. and it says I have to cancel my current reservation and make a new one. Well gee.. if I do that, I end up with *no* reservation. Is there any way to add on an extra day whether it's con rate or not?

Call th hotel directly and let them know. Perhaps they can work out something for you.

Calling the hotel is better, email is an unreliable median for this close to the date. Call and get it confirmed in voice, take the person's name, and then see if they can email you a conf#

I had to do the same thing myself, because I changed my mind, early last week I think it was, and decided I wanted to arrive a day earlier than my original reservation. Turns out they couldn't add another night onto my existing reservation because the con rate was no longer available (due to the cut-off date having passed). So I ended up getting a separate, regular rate, one-night reservation for I think $155 (Actually not that much higher than the con rate surprisingly), and the person on the phone said they could "link it together" with my other reservation, so I should be able to keep the same room and not have to check out and back in the very next day.

Here's hoping it actually works like that when I get there *fingers crossed* Smiling

Oh, and I did all this by calling the hotel directly.

As I just did this, now is an excellent time to call the hotel with any special requests. Of course they can't promise you for certain you'll get them, but having them already noted on your reservation will go a long way to getting them when they start the room pull (assign you to rooms).

My requests are simple enough... a room on a LOW floor, close to the elevator.

As long as you make reasonable requests, you stand a decent chance of getting them fulfilled. Just remember to be civil if they cannot accommodate you.

Well, I got it sorted out.. but the rate they quoted me was $249 for the Sunday night. Must be cos it's the weekend or something. But they just added it on to my existing reservation.

Anthrocon's room rates are only valid if they are booked 3 weeks prior to the event. Any bookings made after that date do not get the convention discount -- they are billed at the standard rack rate for the days in question (which can vary depending on whether it is a weekday, a holiday, or a weekend).

That's why it's best to avoid last-minute changes whenever feasible.
