Dunno. But it will be the first AC where I've stayed in the same hotel twice.

Mine as well. I dunno how I will adjust, to come to AC and--oh my goodness gracious me: a familiar hotel!

AC04 was held at the great Adam's Mark before it was destroyed. 05 was a temp hotel until the current one, 06 was chosen. So I believe its going to be a while before it is moved again

Hopefully that is true. As you're on the line, Uncle Kage, maybe you know the answer. Was it indeed the first time that 3 successive Anthrocons was held in 3 different hotels? Or was there a similar situation in the early years?

No, that was the first -- and hopefully the last -- time that Anthrocon was in 3 different hotels in 3 years.

To paraphrase a line from Uncle Kage's Story Hour from that most infamous of years: "Do you remember Anthrocon 2005? Oh, what a year that was."

The line, (which I took from his 2005 Story Hour), was actually "Do you remember Valet Parking for fifteen dollars? Oh, what a day that was."

permalinkyes, third hotel in 3 years indeed
97-98 Albany Omni (now Crown Plaza)
(where it al began!)

99-00 Valley Forge Hilton
01-04 Adams Mark

05 Wyndham downtown Philly now known as Sheraton Phil.
City Center
06-07 Westin Conv Ctr Pittsburgh

One of the hotels looks a bit different these days (actually it's probably either flat or a shopping mall by now)

Are there any other photos of the Adams Mark's demolition?

Er....
The Omni is no longer an Omni.
The Hilton is no longer a Hilton
The Adams Mark is no longer an Adams Mark (or even a hotel!)
The Wyndham is no longer a Wyndham.
Does anyone else sense an ominous pattern here?

Anthrocon's had a knack for picking hotels with complicated futures.

Hey, Uncle Kage! I've heard the Westin and the David L. Lawrence Convention Center have been sold to Target Corporation! *Flees!*

It's obvious, Kage: We encourage hotels to try out other identities!

permalinkThe repair costs on the elevators alone could bankrupt most of the hotels we have occupied.
