I was wondering, what do you guys suggest to pack? And I know NOW is a good time to do so. And I am. But I was just wondering.

A Towel. Having your own lightens the load on the hotels limited supply and you don't have to worry about the roomie from hell who uses all the towels and leaves none for anyone else.

Besides, you should ALWAYS know where your towel is

Depends on how much use you'll get out of it.

At most cons (furry and non-furry) I've attended, I've used my laptop back in my room about 1 hour a day to check email and catch up on things online. Depending on your online habits, this may vary.

The usual cautions about not leaving it unattended, etc. all apply.

I will be using it for that and uploading images onto it. If I can get a SD and CF card reader. For USB.

Feel free to toss them up on our Flickr group. That would be neat if we could get real time pictures from the convention.

Might we do this from the computer room that AC usually sets up? I'd have to learn how to use Flickr and all that, but I'll be packing my card reader.

What to pack aside from the usual clothes, deoderant, bath stuff, fun stuff, etc.?

Surprisingly, a jacket or sweater. In order to keep the fursuiters from keeling over, the building has to be kept mildly chilly. Well, it's mildly chilly by my standards, anyway. Most days i switched back and forth throughout the day from tank top to long sleeved shirt and back, depending on how long i'd been sitting still and how recently i'd gone outside.

You may be one of those inherently warm people and never need it, but it's good to have it along, just in case.

If you're the kind who likes to dress up to go dancing, you could also pack clothes for that, though many ppl just dance in street clothes. The dance space is cool enough that you shouldn't have to worry too much about getting sweat drenched, unless it's all warm clothing and you dance vigorously. Either way, i might toss in a spare set of clothes (or some laundry detergent), just in case everything ends up all sweaty.

If you're sharing a room with others, i'd also pack an alarm clock (if you don't have a cell that can double as an alarm). You may want to get up earlier or later than your roommates, and it's nice to have the option.

I also always travel with ibuprofen, a mini band-aid pack, a film canister of salt, and an old candy tin with some condiments in it, but that's just because i've had moments of being out and about and looking for each of those things.

if you fly be aware there's a 3 oz. limit for deodorant,
toothpaste, other gels, etc. You're supposed to put them
in a ziploc bag/baggie and show it to security (get travel
sizes). The other week I flew from Boston to Long Beach
and was sure to show my bag of stuff to them. (On the way
back, I didn't bother telling them I had it because I had used up the toothpaste &
deodorant in question)

""Travelers may now carry through security checkpoints travel-sized toiletries (3 ounces or less) that fit comfortably in one quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag," states the TSA's web site. At the security checkpoint, "travelers will be asked to remove the zip-top bag of liquids and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt," the TSA notes.

Just a note, that's only for CARRY-ON. Those of you with checked luggage can put liquids of any normal size in the checked baggage just fine.

And like he quoted, it's the 3-1-1 rule

3 oz containers or smaller, inside
1 one quart plastic zip top back,
1 bag allowed per person traveling.

To make it easy, just check everything of gel or liquid base. That includes lipstick for the ladies and some other things you might not think of, think about it carefully. They (TSA Security) are allowed to do anything from making you throw it away (least bad) to detain you (worst)

Aside from what's already been listed, you may also want to pack an umbrella (one of those travel-size ones sometimes work, if the downpour isn't rough). Two different conventions, I got caught outside right when rain began falling, and it wasn't even expected to rain! (having said that... it also helps to check the weather reports like www.weather.com before the convention so you'll know what to expect)

if you have a cellphone and text messaging, text "w pittsburgh, PA" to 46645 (googl) and get a fairly accurate weather report for the day and temps for the next 3 days (works for any city, state) (also "d word" for defenitions, and other stuff)

there is no extra charge beyond text messaging

edit- i work customer service for a large cell company that i agree'd not to name online- so don't ask who Sticking out tongue
