What are the hours for registration, both pre-registration and regular registration, during the convention? I am asking because I am pre-registered, and I am planning on arriving on the afternoon of Friday, July 6. Will I be able to pick up my badge at that time? I found the "Pocket Schedule," which says pre-registration pickup will be 9 AM to noon on Friday, but registration is 10 AM to 10 PM on Friday. I just want to know if I will be able to pick up my pre-registration badge and packet on Friday afternoon. I hope this question hasn't been asked before; I looked through the site and the forum before posting this. Thank you! |

According to my notes, registration will be open 10 AM to 10 PM on Friday. We will be posting a list of hours very soon.

Cool. So, does that mean, if I'm pre-registered, I can pick up my badge anytime during that time?

Yes. There will be a separate line for pre-registered attendees who need only to pick up their badges.

Maybe it's not clear from the pocket schedule.
Pre-reg badge pickup is from 10 AM to noon on Friday. After that, the crowd is pretty much gone, so pre-reg badge pickup moves to the main registration area. THAT remains open until 10 PM.

permalinkAnd what ancient Anthrocon are you thinking of?! Certainly none of the ones I've been alive long enough to witness.

permalinkAnthroCon 2005 at the Wyndham.
I arrived late due to the storms, and quick-marched to Registration around 2pm Fri. There was perhaps ONE PERSON ahead of me, if any. I'm a fast typist, so I went through the line and typed my Registration information in perhaps 2 minutes, perhaps 3 minutes. I spent longer waiting for it to print out than I did for the "line" and typing.
Naively thinking the lines can't REALLY be that long, in 2006 I didn't Pre-Reg, and arrived Thu evening and got on a line that really WAS that long.
In other words, around 2pm Friday, the Registration line pretty much IS gone, and probably it begins thinning about 11am and looks short about Noon or so.

The Pre-Registration line will be very, very short by noon on Friday. The only time the line for pre-registration should take over an hour will be Thursday, and even then, we'll be blazing through those.
I think with some of our further registration advancements, we'll process through main registration lines quite rapidly as well, and by Friday at noon we should have well over 80% of the convention-goers processed through, espwcially given the amount of people using Independence Day to take a very long weekend, and certain to come to registration Thursday.
