Sounds a bit too logistically daunting a task for the hardworking AC staff to take on. On a related note, I'd just like to know which gas stations still sell a gallon of gas for a gallon paid. I don't think my gas tank has grown 10% larger in the past year.

Gas is about $2.93 here, here being about 45 min outside of Pittsburgh. (little flux depending on where you stop at) I was just in Ohio and if anyone is driving in that way, I would recommend filling up there. It was $2.65. With the fourth approaching soon, I would think gas prices would be rising though...

On our little stretch of I-75 gas is between 2.84 and 2.99 at the moment. Now I'm expecting thast since AC is falling on the 4th of july wekend gas should be about oh... 0.15 cents more per gallon. yeouch >.=.< bad for me I've a V8 ex police car, but I'm driving two furs so it shouldn't be too bad.

And more importantly, try SAVING gas. Try these tips:

1. Drive like you're being graded on it. Merge evenly, don't jackrabbit from starts, don't pass aggressively. Pretend you're taking your driver's test.
Savings: 5-33%, or $0.16- $1.06 per gallon!
Cost: FREE!!! Courtesy costs you nothing

2. Drive the speed limit. Once you get over 60, you start losing efficiency. And ignoring signs that tell you to slow down may make you brake sharply to take corner.
Savings: 7-23% depending on how fast you're going. Every 5mph over 60 costs you about an extra $.20 per gallon

3. Clean out the car. Don't carry extra weight, it makes the car work harder. It's a small difference, but over hundreds of miles, it adds up. And if you're stuck in the car 10 hours, you want to start clean anyway.
Savings: 1-2%, or $.03-$.06 per gallon
Cost: FREE! Just takes a few minutes of your time

4. Take off the roofrack. Car are streamlined to save gas. Adding a roofrack destroys that. Take it off and store everything in the car that you can. Consider some bulky items by mail if necessary. Keep in mind, at high speeds, a roof rack WILL affect the handling of the car. If you've never driven at highway speeds, you may be in for a big surprise as to how differently the car handles.
Saving: around 7%, so driving with a roofrack works out to paying an extra $.20 per gallon
Cost: FREE to a few bucks, if you need to ship something ahead instead

5. Check your tires. Underinflated tires steal your gas milage and affect the handling of the car. Not sure what the pressure is? open your driver's side door and read the tab in the door frame. Many will have different weights for front and back. You will need a tire pressure gage.
Savings: around 3%, or $.10 per gallon
Cost: FREE. Most gas stations have free compressed air. if you don't have a tire gage, it'll be about $5.

6. Clean your air filter. Your engine needs air to breath. Running around with a dirty air filter effectively chokes your car.
Saving: 10%, or around $.32 per gallon
Cost: between $10-$50 depending on if you change it yourself or have it done by someone else.

So if the safe driver that does everything right needs 20 gallons of gas, national average will have him spending about $64. The guy that doesn't take care of his car and drives like an asshat and goes 10 miles over limit will end up spending $105 to go the same distance.

Treat your car nice and drive safe, it's good for your wallet and means you have more to spend on art!

not to be mean, but hiring someone else to change your air filter is like hiring someone to scratch your butt. Its so easy even a caveman can do it. Sticking out tongue

No, but seriously, all you got to do is find out where the air filter is, which is easy. Then find out how it opens, which usually its one of two methods. One, its held closed by little metal clasps that can be popped open with your fingers. Two, its held closed with screws which are usually easy to open. Just find the right sized tool and unscrew them.

Pull out the filter and replace it with a new one. It was so easy for me that i did it in less than a minute right there in front of the auto zone and I didnt even bother to ask for help either its that easy. If you cant figure out where the air filter is, just go to an auto zone or advance auto parts store. they will happily show you where you can find the air filter in your car.

Also, while you are changing your air filter, if you know how, you can also refill your air conditioner with freeon. Just make sure you know a fair bit about cars before trying the air conditioner job. Its a lot cheaper if you do it yourself, but if you connect the hose to the wrong port, it can be bad. Just make sure to correctly identify the right port and follow the instructions on the refill kit(which can be bought at most auto parts stores). After it was all said and done, I had turned a $80 job into a $20 quick fix.

Vancouver and throughout the Lower Mainland has gas prices where we're paying $1.40-$1.60 per litre, so we're paying about $5 per gallon over here. Even businesses are suffering the high fuel prices, and truckers everywhere are even more pissed off than an ice cream truck full of angry killer bees. Worse, effective Canada Day (July 1), they're gonna add a carbon tax of 2.4 cents per litre, and at this point, I'm really wondering why they're still driving their cars just to go to work.
