Nooo! I am now suddenly worried about going to AC. What if I don't have enough money? What If I can't get a ride back? What if something goes wrong in general? I do my math, and I SHOULD have enough money I should have about 600 dollars when I arrive It going to cost me about $100 for the room from Thursday to sunday. so thats about $240 - give or take a few. that leaves me at $360 for what ever. And I am getting 200 from a wired transfer, so that can leave me at $560. But what about a ride? well, ride up is with a friend who I KNOW is going. Ride down is Greyhound. But what about the rest? Is anyone else having this felling? |

Breath dude. General rule of claw: something ALWAYS goes wrong on a trip. Planning can circumvent most disasters into annoyances. From what you've said it sounds like you have your bases covered.
My personal advice is just be sure to leave enough time on your trip back. I know a few coworkers who are procrastinators when it comes to catching their flights. Getting to the airport 30 minutes before your flight when you don't know how busy the place is doesn't sound like a sound plan of action. Ditto for any type of transportation. Get there early so you can deal with any potential problems.

permalinkI'm not having that feeling about money, and I'm bringing less money than you. So long as you don't eat at fancy restaurants or survive entirely off the Westin hotel's restaurant, so long as you don't buy out the Dealer's Room or bid huge amounts in the auctions, you should be more than fine money-wise. Remember that anything you buy, you have to PACK.
(Oh, and the Westin Hotel's restaurant is more expensive than I'm used to- and I eat in Manhattan and have eaten in hotel restaurants lots of times. Just something to keep in mind, since there's other places nearby.)

permalinkKellic is right. BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEATHE! Don't make me go Bud Brigman on your tail.
Where are you coming from? If you have $560, that would be far more than enough to get airfare back on AirTran, if you live near an airport.

I know how you feel. I'm pretty sure I'll be heading up there with $400, already having paid for registration, and with $150 going to the room (hopefully less if we get more than four people). I'm reserving 100 of it for possible spending on gas and other things for the ride up/back, leaving about $150 for me to spend. The only thing I have planned to buy so far is a white bunny tail for my girlfriend.

Learn to eat cheap. And if free food is offered: go for it! But be sure to thank them generously. Volunteer whenever you can to help yourself keep busy if you're bored. There's always something to do.
Calculate your hotel costs first. How many nights, cost per night, and calculate tax, and then save just a tad more.
Calculate cab fare. Don't travel more than you need to. I'm here to help, too, so if you happen to catch me at the airport and you need a ride to the Westin, just ask me and I'll help split cab fare.
Last year I made it on $500 of spending cash. It *can* be done. Spend wisely.

permalinkI plan on getting whatever strikes my fancy, whether it be t-shirts, buttons, or other memorabilia. And despite some splurges on myself earlier this year, I have much more spending money for the con than I had planned on. And well, if I keep my spending slim, I might go for a new computer just after the con.
