Well, this is actually pretty interesting to me. I'm kind of a theater buff, and it seems like it would be an interesting reading. I may check it out.

permalinkThis reading is not listed on the schedule for the CLO Cabaret Theatre. The date given, July 5th, has the musical "Always Patsy Kline" at 7pm. On weekends after the show it becomes a "Late Night Cabaret" starting around 10pm. (No cover, $8 minimum) It isn't clear whether "weekends" include the Thursday performance.
That being said, charging $15 for a play reading of a work in development seems rather steep. Usually they are free.

I'm going to go to the show for sure! I've done dinner theater before and they'd charge our audience $20 to see us do our thing. I definitely want to support this production especially if it shows our fandom in a good light. These things start small, and I'm glad they're going to ask for feedback to see if they got it right.

permalinkJust to clarify. This is not a production. This is a play reading. Writers use them to generate interest from producers. Producers use them to generate interest from investors and theatre owners.
From what I can tell by reading the article, at this stage in the life of the show, a first draft exists. I may attend the reading although there won't be sets. I don't expect there to be costumes or musicians, or even a cast. Most likely all there will be is the two authors reading all the parts and the stage directions, performing the music on a keyboard instrument.
As to whether this show will present furries in a favorable light, remember the protaganist writes for a sensationalist web site, (eveythingawful.com), and at some point in the proceedings he will have to vent his feelings towards the fandom. This show is an entertainment and like CSI, it will most likely focus on the more provocative aspects of furrie. (I doubt it will be ninety minutes on the ins and outs of setting up Con Registration)
Also, since this is not a regular night at the cabaret, I expect the kitchen to be closed.
Perhaps Uncle Kage could encourage them to do the reading at Anthrocon instead.

Considering the fact that Uncle Kage wouldn't give it a paw of approval, I highly doubt he would talk them into doing it at AC. And also, I bet he doesn't even have time for it right now =)

Kage has expressed interest. I doubt he would endorse anything sight unseen, and the play itself is still a long way from production.
