Soo, as noted from my headline, this will be my 1st con ever. My friend tuned me into furry-he is one, so naturally I took an interest. Now, I will be attending this years con! (Not to mention meeting my friend for the first time ever!) I'm sure it's probably been asked, and if I missed it, I'm sorry! |

I personally would recommend Uncle Kage's Story Hour and 2's Rant.

Highly seconded, unless you have an allergy to humor or something....then go anyways.

My best advice after several of these is just go and have fun.
Other than the can't-miss Kage and 2, everything else is terrific when you discover it instead of planning for it. Try having a plan of... having none and go hog wild, makes for a wonderful weekend.

Oh..the decisions you have to make!
Well, I can make a suggestion for an event on the schedule that could be very fun for you. I'll be hosting "Anthropoly" which is Anthrocon's very own game show (Now in it's 3rd season).
It's a fun event that lets contestants (picked right from the audience) play along with our esteemed panelists. Each panelist represents a specific area of our convention programming: Writer, Artist, Puppeteer, Fursuiter, Performer, and Guest of Honor. Wimmers do receive prizes..and it's a lot of fun to watch.
There will be lots of dances and musical events, puppet shows, fursuit games, mad libs and other games, stand up comedy, instructional panels on art....too many to really list without going down the entire schedule.
What might be good is to look at the pcoket program and pogramming guide and identify the items that seem most interesting to you. Then, build your own personal convention schedule around that.

I'm definetly hitting one of the dances, and most assuredly I'll check out the R'2. LOL I'm so excited-this is going to be the best fun I'll ever have lol. Wish I would have pre-registered ><. But I didn't know if I could attend until 2weeks ago. Meh, I'll know for next year!!

Excellent. Will be glad to see you there.
Please be sure to say a quick hello. I'll be at the first con panel, fursuit meet/greet and Anthropoly on Friday.

permalinkAnthropoly rocks! Where else can you see one of the guests of honor fall out of his chair. I wish they would video tape it like they do Kage's show, and sell it on DVD.

permalinkLong story short! Two contestants one was names Pro-something, got shortened to just Pro. And the others name was Khan, or something that sounded enough like it. And the name Khan became a bit of a joke onstage. The whole panel of match game like folks are drawn from AC staff, and honored guests, and these people like to have fun, so it can get a bit robust at times.

It's become a running gag to boot.
Last year one of the contestants was "Raliegh" and in the comically tortured efforts to get the AV people to get the spelling right ("Rolly", "Rollay", etc) they just blurted out "KAAAHHHNN!!!"

This is my first Anthrocon, but I have attended Phoenix ConGames back in July 05, and June 07... and also some Anime/Manga related cons in the Philippines during May 07 as well.
This you have to realize about cons is... people like you if you like them normally. At ConGames I got along well with geeky adults! Just because I was interested. It's basically the terms under if you like it, and enjoy doing it, you'll get along well with people. Just don't be shy.

Come by the Eye of Argon reading. Not exactly furry related, but there's a reason why it's a multi-genre tradition.
