permalinkI'm pretty sure management would not approve. And what with all the activity in the hotel this week, roller skating indoors is probably a bad idea.

We would not recommend having any skates in the convention space for concern of safety. Remember that there are anticipated to be in excess of 2400 persons in the hotel and convention center aligned to Anthrocon. With that number of peopole around, particularly individuals with fursuits who may have limited vision, wearing any type of skate could cause an injury.
I'd advise leaving them at home.

Wise advice, I'll bring the shoes, and I'll leave the wheels out while I'm in the hotel. I wouldn't want an out of control fur skating into me while I'm in my suit.

Also be aware, it's against the law to skate on sidewalks in downtown pittsburgh. The fine is not huge, but also allows for charging the person 'costs' which could be anything, such as the cost of hiring a cleaning crew to wash scuff marks off the sidewalk, etc. Something to keep in mind.

I'm sorry but i just have to.
heelies are like any sporting good that adds forwards momentum, gravity, and alot of other physicsy stuff that well, should be worn with helmet and a number of padding wich nobody dose. i have alot of family in the medicle fields and well the most cases i hear about is from my mother, a neurologist. you would be....or rather wouldn't be suprized on the number of head injuries from those roller skates cause nobody wears any protective head gear...well..untill they fracture thier spinal cord...then they wanna wear a helmet but it's far too late by that time. but yeah, beating dead horses with sticks here: but factors other then the law i would say are the fursuits unfortionatly not everyone can snowboard them in them, and alot of the suits are in the 3000's+usd and other forms of currency. smashing into some 30,000 animatronics would suck majorly :\ not just for you, but for the suiter themselvs cause depending on the damage, some of these fursuits are priceless and if lost, lost forever for vairous reasons. so yeah, please, no high volocity anything! cause i don't know about the rest of you, but i'm allergic to high speed collisions O.o, i swell up and bleed all over. it's a bad allergic reaction XD

permalinkSpeaking from the Security POV, Heelies, Roller Skates and Roller Blades are all in the same category, and none of them are allowed in either the convention center or the hotel. If we find you rolling about, we'll probably have a talk with you about going and changing your footwear.
Keep you wheels outside the buildings, better yet, leave them home.

I remember looking at one of them in the store and there was a label over the heel indicating that removing the label was equivalent to signing a medical release form absolving the manufacture of all responsibility. Somehow, a pair of shoes that comes with its own release form doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
