We had another amazing year at Anthrocon 2013! The details:

  • Total number of attendees at Anthrocon 2013: 5,577
  • Total number of fursuits in the Fursuit Parade: 1,300
  • We raised over $31,000 for our charity: Equine Angels Rescue. Great job, everybody!
  • Next year's Anthrocon will be held: July 3rd to 6th, 2014 The theme will be: "Secret Societies"
  • Have feedback? Please please take our survey and tell us what we did well, and what we can do better at.

Many thanks to staff at The Westin, The David L. Lawrence Convention Center, our staff and voluneers, and the City of Pittsburgh. Your efforts all helped make this event possible.

For those of you still at the convention, we hope you have a safe and happy evening. Convention Operations will be run out of the Crawford Room, located on the third floor of the Westin hotel for the rest of the evening.

Thank you all for joining us in Pittsburgh, and have a safe journey home!

We'll see you next year.

It was a blast volunteering. I met so many cool people! Thanks to you all for running such an awesome convention! After a three-year hiatus for me, the experience was incredible and unforgettable.

And thank you for being such a great volunteer!  We couldn't have managed the headless zones without dedicated volunteers like you.  I'm sure the suiters appreciated your enthusiasm, as well.

Had a brilliant time at Anthrocon! It had everything I hoped and expected it to have. It was well worth the months I spent planning and preparing for the con. I also felt like an 8-year old on caffeine when I saw my artwork in the conbook! Dance I'm going to write a report on the con tomorrow while riding the train home.

Thanks to EVERYONE who made this another wonderful weekend to remember! I hope to be back next year!

Thought this be a good thread to post something before we head back home.

This was my first ever Furry Con' but fer sure it will not be my last.....I would miss checkout time for tomorrow if I tried to write about everything I experiensed at the con' right now.

The con' is over and now I need to pack things and get them ready for the car; it was very hard to get everything in my car for the trip to Pittsburgh, but thought it would be very easy on the return now that Equine Angels Rescue got the paste wormers, fly spray, horse cookies and the horse trimmers, but.......Nooooo!

You see here, my Friend gave a "donation" himself to Equine Angels for that Stuffed Robotic Pony they had in their pen in the Dealers Room. Now I find that Pony in the back of my car!! Need to figure out how to fit everything, including my Salem for the trip back. Oh, and my other Friend won this big plush bear at the charity auction so I need to make room for that as well.  At least the Dorsai Slap Band I got from that auction does not take up any room. I can at least wear that on my arm for the trip back home.

To everyone who helps make Anthrocon happen, Thank You Very Nice for a real good time!

Toodles!   Salem

The convention dates are booked a few years in advance. Anthrocon needs to because time blocks at the convention center are filled fast. The date changes because it's best to hold conventions over weekends.

You can find future dates and themes here (http://www.anthrocon.org/node/355/convention-date-related-questions)

While Glelin's answer is correct, there are actually cosmic influences at work here!   (That means I'm going to go into schoolteacher mode.)

How many days in a year?  365 (unless it's a leap year)

How many weeks in a year?  52

How many days in a week?  7

How much is 52 times 7?  364

How much is 365 - 364?  1.

What this means (and the cosmis influence) is that the solar year, the time it takes us for one circuit of the Sun, is one day longer than the total days in the weeks in the year.  So,in 2013, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday were the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th, respectively.  In 2014, T,F,S+S will be the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th because of that extra day pushing things back by a day.

Anthrocon 2013 was so much more fun than I expected. It was my first time at a con--let alone a furry one. I'll be moving to Pittsburgh within the month, so I'll defnintely be attending next year! Hopefully for the entire duration rather than just one day. ;w; Also hoping I'll be able to get a suit by then, too. ewe

This was the first convention I've ever been to and the first time for going to Anthrocon as well. I enjoyed seeing everything that was to offer and now I can't wait for next year.

Who knows? Maybe I might come as a furry next year (or the following year depending on finances). It just looks like so much fun!

And I'm gonna make sure that I register early this time!

To go from small meetups and one furcon of a couple hundred to this was really something. Thoroughly enjoyed myself, the guests of honor, the artists, the panels...everything!! No complaints from me, other than a small one about having a map in the programming guide that's been addressed in another thread.

Thank you Anthrocon (CEO, board and staff) so much for providing sign language interpreters at various events! I enjoyed it much more this time around. I really enjoyed Uncle Kage's Storyhour; it was funny! Depending (money, time, etc.), I may go again next year!

Just one tiny complaint: I notice that in the schedule book, there are several discrepancies between the text version and the time chart. This caused me to miss one or two events, since I usually rely on the time chart to plan out the day.

thank you so much. this con was the best yet. I am so glad that it leaves me with a homey family feeling.

You have done so many things right.. the "Where to eat" book... the "schedule on cell phone" and so forth.

It went by so fast but It is the best yearly vacation for me ... Dance Hug

I, too, have to give a big thanks to our volunteers. You all worked so very hard for us, and this con really wouldn't work very well without its volunteers.

Now it's time for me to take a big long nap...

I just wanted to point out my thread and donation campaign: http://www.anthrocon.org/node/13853/starting-fund-contribute-damage-repair-westin-during-anthrocon-2013

I contacted UncleKage, but he hasn't gotten back yet. I understand he's probably a very busy man, so I understand. However, I'd like to at least get some visibility with the staff.

I want to say it was great volunteering for Anthrocon and after not attending a con in three years and dealing with a lot stress and aggravations in those three years, it was great to be back! And after all the volunteering I did this year, you can bet I will be back next year for Anthrocon 2014 to volunteer once again and hopefully be back fursuiting once again! Laughing out loud
