I know someones gonna say go put this in a LJ or some crap, but I just want everyone to know how AV affected me ^^; so here Well I just returned for AC the other night and well ... It opened a new chapter in my life... I only went cause my friends paid and was going with an bleak outlook for it. I knew their would be couples and alot of people .. Both things that set things off that upset me. Though when I got that finaly on the 3rd .. I was willing to go .. HEY! lets give this a go.. So I did. As the con slowly came to the start I was abit upset cause I hung about with my ex and his mate and this bothered me abit. Though when the con acutaly started I was in a better mood. I had a free hugs sign and gave alot of hugs.. met alot of people and made really close friends with the fursuiters .. more over the actualy no suiting furs. As the con went on I felt happy.. I finaly found a place to belong and a place I could just be me... Without having to hide the fact I was bi or a furry ... Hell I wasn't even scared to dance and people liked my "moves" ... I said to myself .. this is my true home. When AC ended and it was time to go home.. I was upset. I cried .. though as said a new chapter opened .. I've as badly emo as this sounds been looking for a reason to live for the past five years and finaly found one.. To travel cons and be with people that makes me happy and won't judge me.... |

I know how you feel Jolt. I myself haven't had much to look forward to for most of my life. I have never felt so at home and at peace with everything then I did there. I admit that I didn't cry, but if my brain hadn't died from the excitment overload, I probably would have when we left on Sunday. The only thing that is really keeping me from crying is a small, fox plushie I have that I bought while at AC.
And I am also quite glad to have met you while at AC. And I got two free hugs from yay. ^_^.

I'm really glad you had a good time Jolt. I know the exact feeling you got from the con. I too have been greatly changed. For the first time in my life I've been able to be free to be myself. Free from the military regiment of my day to day life. I was very upset to see it all end, but it also left me with hope that this is something I get to look forward to every year... like a second christmas!

Isn't it great to just let the world go? Oh if only the artists wouldn't kill everyone if AC went to a week long con...
Second christmas is good, though I prefer to think of it as my new year. I'll bathe in the afterglow of AC07 until AC08.

I may not be in the exact same boat, but I'm right there with you. AC brought a huge change to my life. Although I didn't interact as much as others, I still felt at peace wherever I went. Well... there were those times when I saw 2 or Kage and I got a little starstruck. I tried to make it a goal to at least introduce myself... never happened. I don't think I'll be able to let go of my introverted self until I get my behind in a fursuit.
I think the biggest change for me would be the need to increase my financial gain so that I can attend more furcons and stop waisting my time on the 10 year plan.
*edit* I forgot to mention that on the trip back, every time I told myself that Anthrocon was over, I just about burst into tears. The last thing to make me cry was when Frankenstein's Monster was being sucked into a vortex on The Monster Squad. I kinda felt like Phoebe, "No Anthrocon! Don't go!" and I chuck a plushie at some random person.

Don't cry! Part of the excitement of the convention is the anticipation. Now we get to start looking forward to the next one!

Agreed. One of the biggest things that helped deliver a swift kick to the posterior of Post Con Depression for me was Takala running across the stage at the closing ceremonies, holding the official countdown for 2008 way up high above his head.

Oh we love that freaking zebra so much and his big silly grin.
Hey! There's always MFF! I call it Anthrocon Jr.

Absolutely. Just don't call it that in front of the MFF staff. ;=8)

It's a compliment in my book... The smaller size allows for MUCH more socializing and an extremely relaxed environment. It's a rare occurrence not to see two or three dozen furs relaxing in the lobby while one plays the baby grand.
It's all the fun of Anthrocon without the maddening stress.
Kage will agree with me, won't you roach?

I think it is just as valid to refer to Anthrocon as "Furfest on Steroids."

Hey, we've been called worse things!
Considering how many members of Midwest FurFest staff are part of Anthrocon's staff, I'd say there's quite a family resemblance!

I'd say it is most appropriate, then, to call it "Anthrocon's little brother convention that Anthrocon used to tease and give noogies to but it's starting to get bigger and soon Anthrocon might have to be the one getting the noogies."

MFF and AC are definitely brother cons. I love them both so much, though the drool-inducing food environment at MFF and lack of parking costs does put it a 100th of a notch above AC in personal opinion... VERY slight! I promise Kage!
