Just wondering guys, is there a real difference between the brands of Cabs in Pittsburgh?
because when I took with a friend a taxi from the airport to the hotel, it cost only 30 US
but then, When taking from the Westin to the Airport....I don't know if they seen me as a "businessman" or something similar, as they gave me a different cab ( a Classy Cab ), and it did cost 59 USD dollars..(auch!...)
so... is there a way to know which cabs are more expensive than others?

Just take the yellow cabs (these are ubiquitous around the airport and hotels, often parked right outside). Don't get hassled by any of the other ones. And the yellow cabs will go a lot faster, or take an alternate route if the traffic is bad.

What you gotta be sure to do is ask what the fare is gonna be (or the rates)
They should tell you if you ask, if not then yell "mortal kombat!!" and hang up quickly. ^o^

If your gonna try to save some cash, dont take the "classy cab"

And thats Pittsburgh, so there are alot of "business men" there, I guess it was just an assumption
At least you'll know next time

any cab with the word "taxi" should be the same price, I think they are legally bound to one price, plus the per mile / minute rate should be posted on the door or window. If it doesn't have the normal cab roof-bump and other markings, aka unmarked, it may be more of a charter service, which would be about $60.

I do believe that the City of Pittsburgh might take exception to that.

1) Pittsburgh registers cabs, much the same way New York does (although not quite as totalitarianist... NYC almost owns the cabs in NYC).

2) Pennsylvania is REALLY big on unions. Not only would the City be on your tail, but the Unions would be, too.

While that link didn't work when I clicked it I can't see what is there.

BUT, as a part of the fandom then I will be offering my services to not random people but for friends. I am not billing myself as a taxi, but just giving friends a ride to the airport. Of course I would expect some compensation for my gas, maintenance and time. Up to you, take an expensive cab or go for a ride in my car.

Just so ya know, the $30 is about a normal cab fair from the airport to the con center

Hm. Nice. They aren't set up for linking, apparently. Ah well, I've reproduced the text of the ordinance below.

Advertising for transportation in exchange for compensation on a publicly-accessible (and Google-indexed) message board is the equivalent of operating a taxi service, whether it's for friends or for strangers. I would strongly advise against it.
