Hey there fellas!! I'm hoping to attend AC08 along with my boyfriend :3 this'll be my first AC and my first con *is really excited* I just have a few questions...

1) I plan on trying to get into the Artist's Alley, you guys have any tips about how to act? ((hehe, silly question I know))

2) At the time of the con I will be 17, will there any events I won't be allowed into?

3) Any further tips that haven't been mentioned in the first time congoer's thread for surviving a con?

Thanks, Shaggi :3

You've got questions, we've got answers.

You might want to explain the question a little, since I don't know what you mean.
The basic Artist Alley answers are here: http://www.anthrocon.org/faq/alley

Supposing your question wasn't answered there, I'll TRY to answer it.

How do you act to get a table? Normal manners are fine. Just follow the instructions, and don't argue with the staff.

How do you act AT the table? Well, usually, you sit and draw. There's no room in the alley to stand up, shouting and hawking your wares- you display them in front of you on the table. Besides, if you're going to be there for hours, you'll need to pace yourself. Maybe you should plan on the Alley for Sat and Sun, and look over how the other artists work on Fri so you have an idea. (This way you can also schedule Fri for more "enjoy the convention" stuff.)

Yes. Out of hundreds of events, there are maybe 5 or 6 this will restrict you from, at most.
-the "mature" Art Auction (you're fine for the REGULAR Auction)
-I don't know if 2's Rants are age-restricted.
-At 10pm and later, a few Adult-specific events will probably be scheduled, like "Writing Adult Stories" or things along those lines.
No matter what time you're looking for things to do, there will be LOTS of events, and you'll never be stuck with either "adult-only events" and nothing official.

Further, some private room parties will probably be off-limits to you.

How restricted will you be as a minor?
Virtually everything I've attended (or run) in the last 3 cons, both official and unofficial, would be just fine for you to attend.

I got tired of retyping advice on each thread, so I made one thread with my advice, which is here:
http://www.anthrocon.org/node/545
(BlackJack's Advice for New Congoers.)
I don't know when they'll be switching from the 2007 to the 2008 forums, so I'd make a copy of the best advice you can find.

The 2 stickies, of course, should be read:
http://www.anthrocon.org/node/389
http://www.anthrocon.org/node/576

The first one has links for more advice.
And of course, you should read the FAQ a few times. It grows on you with each reread.
http://www.anthrocon.org/faq
(I reread it every year, just as a refresher.)
