Yeah, it's almost like they have to wait for 2006 to end and assemble a book, pick layouts, photos, records, fact check and publish it in dozens of languages
*laughs* it just came out two weeks ago for last year's records, some of which have been broken yes, but publishing large-scale is a very very slow process when facts are involved.

We're not, but Anthrocon is a 501(c)(7) recreational club. Your membership dues entitle you to use the club facilities, and to attend club functions, which is why you can't get into the convention center without one. Fortunately, it's not one of those clubs where membership is based on the colour of your fur.

That is a whole lot of awesome. Glad to get any positive publicity we can, but how many people actually read the Guinness World Records?

permalinkMy first reaction to seeing that page was "What do those furs have to do with "MASS SUICIDE".
Gotta learn to look at the whole page first

Well, as I heard, the largest AC was the REAL first one... The one that happened before the first year recorded. Unfortunately, everyone who attended decided to come in matching suits, and they chose the lemming as their mascot...

I think that he would know about it already. They would have to ask someone on the AC Team to be allowed to put that info in there.

Just as a reporter doesn't have to ask to write an article, Guinness apparently doesn't have to ask, either.

I suppose they're not required to get any sort of permission, since it is sort of like journalism.
This was the very first I'd heard of it, quite frankly. Not that I am complaining...!

Not really, no. By default, and as a general free speech issue, you do not need someone's permission to write about them.

It's amazing how many people don't get that.

permalinkI had posted: "Yes, people, it is someone's delightful wishful thought. If you follow it back to the original on FA, the fellow says its from the "2008" addition, as a way of getting people excited about the idea."
I have to apologize. My obviously incomplete research told me otherwise, but I have since been corrected. The entry is legit and quite wonderful!
