Hi folks, I just finished upgrading the website to the latest and greatest version of Drupal. Many performance issues and bug fixes were addressed with this latest release of the software. As always, if anything breaks or otherwise looks amiss, feel free to leave a comment on this post or contact us directly. Enjoy! |

Yeah, that was an interesting bug that, as best I could tell, was triggered in certain browsers because of how they parsed the link. That seems to be fixed now.

permalinkThere is a problem with the e-mail topic-update notifications.
Here is what the subject lines looked like before the update:
Subject: [Anthrocon 2008: It's A Jungle Out There!] thread subscription update for iSKUNK : Musings on the hallway signsAnd after:
Subject: [Anthrocon 2008: It's A Jungle Out There!] thread subscription update for iSKUNK : Under 18 at ACDrupal seems to think that HTML entities are kosher in plain-text e-mail. (They also show up in the comment excerpts that now appear in the message.)
Oh, and when you post a comment, there is an empty "Smileys" box above the text input form.

I'll check into the email issue. I suspect that it was a byproduct of preventing CSS attacks through carefully crafted HTML in a comment. Given that security issue, there may be no "best" solution to the problem.
The Smileys issue looks like a Javascript thing that is failing quietly. I've turned that off for now.

Okay, I think I took care of the thing with Smileys. Please check again. If it still doesn't work for you, could you send me a screenshot? Thanks!

permalinkOh my God!
The smileys widget is working now
(You could probably get rid of the "[Show all]" link in there, given that there's only a handful to show.)

Actually, more smileys can be added.
I'm going to look into adding additional "packs", along with maybe some custom smileys.
Any artist-types want to create some furry smileys?

I could always go hunting for Creative Commons Furry emoticons.

permalinkWell, since you're asking, once I'm logged in, I can't find an option to log out.
That's true when I use IE AND Firefox.
======
Nevermind.
Either you fixed the Firefox one, or I found it.
Either way, no problem.

You found it.
Note that the location of that is subject to change. Drupal's menu system, while amazingly flexible, does do some weird things when it comes to certain system-generated items, such as "logout" and a few others.

Hrmmm...i wonder if that has anything to do with the issues i've been noticing with page refreshes.
With my system, the only difference i've noticed so far is that when i back out of a specific thread, the list of threads (or topics, if i back out to the main menu) doesn't refresh itself to reflect what i've just read and what posts have come in in the mean time. I have to reload the page for that. If i log in and then back out to an earlier page where i wasn't logged in, also, drupal acts as if i've logged out.
Not that that's a big deal, of course. It's not a big deal. The occasional manual page reload won't kill me.

What you're probably seeing is a hit on a cache that is actually external to our webserver, but run by our webhost. When in doubt, do a "power refresh" in your browser by holding the shift key as you click the refresh button.
We're looking at the possibility of switching to another webhost soonish, which will eliminate this external caching issue and address some of the scalability issues we have been seeing lately.

Preview has been acting up a little. Every now and then it won't work (I click preview and it just brings me to a blank page).
I can't seem to be able to view all of the smileys. And I am finding it really hard to find Furry smileys that are under CC.

If that was right around 9 PM EDT earlier tonight, I was seeing blank screens too -- our webhost's database server fell over! o.O

The Active Forums Topic issue was an incorrect cache setting on my part. I just changed that, and all old cache entries for that should expire within 1 hour.
I'll look into the buddy adding thing. Sorry about that.
