From what I hear, he might be going all of AC 08 sober. There's a bet between him and another site member that if said member loses (I think) 100 pounds before the 08 Con, Kage will be going stone-sober all of AC this coming year.
May wanna put off on the sake this year

Than again...he never said he'd be sober after the con. This past year, folks were so generous, he came back with a full wine-box of tributes. Hence the quote, as recorded by one of the dorsai:
Kage: Are my bottles of wine on their way to the backstage?

Kage: Crap! We'll never see them again.
Mach: Don't worry, they'd never drink anything that weak-willed.
