We all know and love the top left bar thats right under the logo "It's a jungle out there!". You know, the one that has the links for the FAQ, the forums, and the such? Well, for some reason, on my distribution of Ubuntu (7.04), its kind of misaligned. Here is a pic of it:
My resolution is 1027 x 768, I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.6 and I can't think of anything else that might help you. |

Looking at the relative position of the string "registration" to the string "there!", it looks like the entire menu is about 50 pixels further to the right than it should be.
Do you have anything open up on the left side of FireFox? Like maybe your bookmark or history menu?

This happens to me too in firefox on the mac, as well as safari. If you resize your window to be a bit wider, you'll be viewing it fine. It's no problem at all at a higher res like 1680x1050 (mine). After checking my own setup at that resolution, I can see that the top bar can just barely make it if you completely full screen the page without the bookmarks or any other things on the sides (save for the scroll bar of course).
If you can, try bumping up your resolution, you'd probably enjoy having more room on your screen anyway. Always check to see if it's okay for your display device to use a different resolution. For instance, flat panel displays usually only are designed to support a few resolutions, and have a well defined upper limit. CRT monitors are usually more flexible, but not always so. Of course, one of the important limiting factors, is your video card, and what that can handle.
Anyway, back to homework...

Hmm, that's really odd, because I run FireFox at 1024x768 on my Mac and don't have these problems. And I know that the Window is 1024x768 pixels because I use the Web Developer extension to size it to precisely that. I have no idea why I'm running what appears to be an identical configuration but I'm not having these problems.
At any rate, Drupal has a pretty simple templating system -- one template is used to display all of the pages. If any HTML/CSS wizards want to send me a design that behaves better in all browsers, please, feel free!

I think mine made it by about 30 pixels. I keep my dock on the top left, since I have a wide screen monitor, so when I changed my res to 1024x768 temporarily, I maximized window, and it didn't exactly do the trick, until I hid the dock, and adjusted the window size. It still just barely makes it. This problem is pretty easy to replicate just by adjusting the window size a little smaller horizontally.

Hang on... I think we have some kind of font issue between our computers.
First, here is what Theyain is seeing:
And this is what I am seeing on my Windows machine:

Note the following:
1) The letters in those menu items are different sizes
2) The "Contact Us" menu item starts at the same place relative to the background, but the "Registration" menu item is further to the right when there is a bigger font.
I'll do some poking around with positioning and see if I can't move that a little further to the left to fix this issue.

Okay, there's a lot more spacing between the elements than there should have been. So I adjusted the padding in the CSS. Please do a power refresh and let me know if that fixes it for you.

That worked out perfectly!
Now hold on while I clear out my cache for the AC webpage!
