You can now register online for Anthrocon 2008. We're still working on a few details with hotel registration and trying to find some nice pictures of our guests to show off, but we hope to have everything ship-shape in short order. Just click on "Registration" and you'll be taken directly to our secure page. If you do not wish to use a credit card, very soon we will have a downloadable registration form that you can send in to us with a check or money order. |

I can recommend a few things during your first convention:
1. Save money for food, and drink lots of water whenever possible. Water is placed all throughout the Westin hotel, and at Con Ops.
2. Look through the pamphlet that you're given so you can study the schedule: choose what you want to do first. There will be more to do at Anthrocon than you will be able to do in a single visit.
3. Please, please, please... shower or bathe every day. It is offensive to stand around a fur who just plain reeks.

That third, of course, being something you should adjust some if you're one of those very rare ppl whose doctor has told you not to. You may laugh, but it does happen. But certainly don't shower any less than you do normally, with soap and water and deoderant afterwards.
I'd also add to that list a couple of other classics:
4. Try to get at least close to a good night's sleep each night, say 6 hours. The convention loves you, but it will still be there in the morning.
5. For goodness' sakes, eat something. Do it eat least twice a day, preferably at least three times, whenever you're hungry, mostly stuff with some actual nutritional value and at least some protein. I know it sounds silly, but my sense from those who know is that every year someone ignores this, and then they're surprised when they spend the gather feeling shaky and awful, or they pass out and someone has to be called in to deal with them.
I could mention others, like practicing safety in any private encounters, and not drinking so much as to make yourself sick, but it all comes down to taking care of yourself. You want to stay healthy and coherent enough to enjoy the whole gather and remember all of the best parts. Or at least that's my feeling.
