I just got to wondering, How many car or motorcycle junkies do we have here? I took a 2 year course in Automotive Tech during High School and never followed up with a college course. However, If the exit exam acctually counted as being certified, I would have been certified in Electrical, Brakes, Suspension & Steering, and Engine Performance. Still having enough knowledge and lingo to confuse even my close friends, I have 2 car projects on the blocks and 1 motorcycle project that is getting prepped for a trip to Tennessee. Plus countless models or old school muscle engines like the 350, HEMI, and the SOHC FORD 427. Car Project #1: My old 1996 Chevy Cavalier. Looking to change the old 2.2 OHV I-4 to a Z24 2.4 DOHC I-4, Upgrade suspension to stronger springs and struts and convert my rear brakes from drum to disc. Project #2: 1995 Chevy Caprice. Word has it that we're in the process of switching out the old steering gearbox for a nice rack-and-pinion set. I'm kinda nervous to see how much more sensitive the steering is going to be. M/C Project: This is a shame really. Should NEVER came to be this way. Back in 1984, my dad purchased a 1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing, the first year they were produced. When he purchased it, it was a bare stock Goldwing, no saddlebags, trunk or fairing, etc. He spent over 6 grand in accessories and countless hours of spare time fixing that bike up. Well 5 years ago, we sent it to get carburator work done but never heard from the guy, not one word. So we made a trip to his house and removed the bike from his property. Word has it that a year ago he left for Miami. Well, during this time, the bike had been left out leaning against a tree. Loads of grass clippings, ants nests, etc were clogged anywhere imaginable. Thankfully we got most of the crap out and have arranged to ship the bike to TN for carb, engine, drivetrain (driveshaft driven, not belt or chain) new tires, and possibly new hoses, etc. Pictures: So, who else shares these kinds of hobbies? |

Oh, I play around with cars a little bit, I currently have 10. Newest is a 2006 Ford Explorer, oldest is a pair of 1919 Stanley Steamers. Smallest is a 1957 Berkeley (a parts car for sale with no drivetrain if anybody interested), biggest is a 1927 American LaFrance. My Messerschmitt was the smallest but I sold that along with the Isettas that I had. Longest owned is my 1931 Model A Ford Deluxe Tudor (Yeah, Ford spelled TWO-DOOR that way back then), I bought it back in the 1960s...dang I feel old suddenly.... Most of what I have currently is in pieces, I have a tendancy to sell stuff once it is done and move on to the next project. As you can see, I mostly play with the older stuff.

permalinkI'm into cars. Mostly imports. I have a 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S. I haven't done much to the car. I'm currently saving for a APEXi WS Catback Exhaust, NISMO Cold-Air Intake, and NISMO QR25DE camshafts. Kinda hard right now, since I'm saving for school, bills, and I'm going to FC08 and possibly AC08. Also, my engine check light keeps turning on and off every so often. A friend says I need to reset the engine computer. I have a couple of friends who are into drifting. Both of them have Nissan 240SXs with SR20DET motor swaps. Maybe when I graduate from college and get a high paying job, I could buy a Nissan GT-R when it comes out in the States!
Nice to see furries who are into cars and such!

I like cars. I myself own and modify my first and most interesting car, a 1997 Pontiac Grand AM SE.
However, I am more into the cosmetic field of my vehicle as opposed to mechanical and performance upgrades (although I do add performance parts and components- usually K&N intakes, filters, ignition cables, et cetera). I am into the graphic design hobby and have printed custom vinyl graphics along with a full undercar and interior neon kit. The purchase of a new bodykit and redesign the interior upholstery will be next in the near future, hopefully before AC2008.
Pic from last summer (slowly I'm making this car fun to drive ... lol):
