Welcome to the forums!
Anthrocon can indeed be a lot of fun and we endeavor to give you an enjoyable weekend!
Dances don't require a fursuit by any means. However, if you wish to wear one, they are welcomed at most of the programming events. We do offer two "headless lounges" for your comfort should you decide to wear a fursuit. (These are designated areas where you can remove the costume head, grab a drink of water, and rest a bit so that you don't succomb to heat exhaustion or dehydration.)
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to ask. You'll find that most Anthrocon members are quite friendly and helpful in answering your questions.
