Howdy everyone!
Hopefully my fiance and I will be going to anthrocon 08. (YAY!) It will be my first con, and his.... I've lost count exactly - however, he did attend AC 06. Now - I'm not sure how much things spread around the community, but if some of you went to AC 06, or have seen video, perhaps you possibly remember Malroo the flipping fox. Well that was my fiance.
Now - hopefully when we go - we wil both be suiting (I've made our suits of our fursonas, the fox suit was barrowed from a friend that year...) and of course, if he gets the urge to (which he seems to be chomping at the bit for again!) he would like to do another preformace of flipping and other arrobatical wonders. So to the point.
I know that we are allowed to take pictures and video for personal use. Are we allowed to post video on a website stating where this took place(date part... all that good stuff)? Mostly it would probably be just a memory site - all the fun things we did at the con. I wasn't sure because I was reading the rules and it says "written permission" for some things.
Sorry in advance for being a n00b.

I'd like to expand on that question.
If avoiding dealers' room and lecture rooms, does one allowed to make extensive videos, depicting the very essence of AC, edit it all nicely, possibly adding some amusing narrative, then uploading it to Youtube or whatever would be the equivalent in July of 2008?
Also, same question, where Youtube or equivalent is replaced with family and friends.

As for the flipping fox, I had the luxury of being on the floor there during it. I've done very little fursuiting, but enough to know firsthand about heat buildup and restricted mobility. That guy just...it blows my imagination to think that someone could do THAT in a fursuit.
Anyway, moving on...to answer some of your questions directly..
Mostly no, somewhat yes. To quote the FAQ "Incedental video of you at the convention is perfectly fine. However, film of Anthrocon events and programs are not since this constitutes "rebroadcast."
Depending on what is being filmed and how much, I'd say it'd be a good idea to upload a sample of your video to your email program (or a private website that the public has no way to access) and email kage "Hey, I've got this vid here. Can I post this on my website?"
Of course, the big man and his crew would probably have a much better idea of what to tell you. If the video is kept within the lobby areas, the hallways, hotel rooms, and the places you go to eat, then it *SOUNDS* like it'd be acceptable. But as said, programs and events are protected. Dances count as an event, BTW.
And to answer the second post, most of the same answers apply to your question except that if "family and friends" means playing it on a DVR or VCR at your house, then you should have full ability to do that. The staff of AC just doesn't want it *broadcast* on the internet or elsewhere.

permalinkI figured I'd probably have to ask Kage, but hey - may see if this has come up before.
Yeah - I asked him about it and basically he was running off of adrenaline. They barely slept most of the con. He really had to push himself to do some of those flips. After wards he ran around grabbing people for a furpile, but shortly after was like " okay guys, I'm gonna die of heat exhaustion..." he did get really hot in the suit.
The suit was made by "Kio wolf" the other one that was doing flips with him. Kio was realy nice and let him barrow the suit for parts of the con.
Watching the video with my fiance - we're still surprized by how much air he got out of those flips O_O
He's training for this up coming AC, working with his new suit that I made him. He's doing it slowly now, taking it easy because he hurt his shoulder during that video - but shook it off ((not the best idea...)) but he really wants to go again! And I wanna be there with my camera!
Thanks for the comment!

permalinkThis is one I was talking about in my other post. This one shows both fursuiters doing it, and where your fiance hurt his shoulder.

Altho, when he was through with the multiple flips, it looks like he got a bit dizzy, as he was grabbing his head. *L* And, was that the wolf you were talking about? That suit is great! I loved that suit.

permalinkOh wow, HE was the backflipping fox? That was some serious good work. I also found it kind of cute. There's a video on YouTube called "FurPile Explosion" that does this "Do a barrel roll" Mario-type theme music when he does it. Love to see that again.

permalinkHeheheh! Awesome! Haven't seen that one before - but I know its on youtube under different AC06' things. I know there are two different angles as well, one from the BBF video and one from someone else. The BBF one was spot on!
Thanks for the reply! :3

permalinkIf you type in "multiple flips in a fursuit" in YouTube, you'll get a video of his flips only. Tho, I believe it was filmed by a different person, I can't remember.

permalinkAlthough I know there's some parts of that, that some furs wild undoubtedly find objectionable, I find it hilarious.
