Anyone here a gearhead?

This was actually suggested by someone else, but it did make sense, so I figured "Why not?". Anyone else on here a gearhead? Y'know, likes to work on cars, rip apart engines, and put them back together. I enjoy to work on cars (sometimes) and also wiring issues. Anyone mentions an electrical problem or stereo upgrades and I'll jump on it like wolf on caribou. Who else enjoys working on cars as a hobby? |

Does buses and diesel engines as a whole count?

Would me wanting to slap a Super-charged 572 Big Block chevy engine, with Edlebrock headers, 4-Barrel carb, and a Boulder Transmission under the hood of an S-10 count? Or would souping up my mom's 1990 Plymouth Grand Voyager minivan with a 3.3 Liter V-6, into a rock-crawling, off-roading joyride suit your taste?

permalinkI use to own a 1990 S-10. Lowered 4/6, 17" Billet Specialties throwing-star style rims, with a 4.3L V6 with Edelbrock Performer camshaft, manifold, tubular headers, reprogrammed ECU chip (courtesy of Edelbrock), 5-speed Borg Warner tranny, cut off exhaust past the cab with no muffler, thing sounded and looked good.
And, a rock crawling minivan? That I gota see.

permalinkMy current daily driver is a '98 Kenworth with a C-12 Cat motor pumping out 430 horsepower. 8-speed Eaton tranny, this thing is all motor.
Yeah, I say your occupation counts.

permalinkSorry, but I don't believe you. Cosworth is a company that makes engines, not cars, and had an association with Ford with building engines. And, they don't make Lamborghini engines, they make F1, Indy Car, and Champ Car engines. Most common engine types that they've worked with are the MAE, FVA, DFV, BDA, and YB. Then the HB V8 became the replacement for the DFV. Not to mention that "topping" out at 210mph is extremely hard for a lot of cars to accomplish because of the physics involved, including engine displacement and balance. I could get more into it, but I would leave about a page long worth of an explanation.
I'm sorry, I don't want to be, or sound, mean here but you really shouldn't try so hard to impress others nor should you lie like that to do so.

Seeing that he's from England, is there any chance that he could have meant 210 KPH? That sort of speed would be more reasonable, no?

permalinkThen that would be approximately 130mph, but even then, what he stated is complete nonsense. Disregarding the speed, the "car" that he claims he has is bogus. Made up to try and impress the rest of us. He is young, and alot of us were like that when we were young, but it really does make me shake my head a few times when I see something like this. As I said, I really, truly do not want to be mean, (altho I'm sure it sounds like it) but I've seen a few of his posts, and I can't see most of them to be true, but mostly blowing smoke up another person.

Gosh it's been so long since I made that last post that I've changed projects already
1.) 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle. There's a SS396 waiting for it in Fredrick, MD. We're gonna put that in there for now till I can build the 454 drag engine for it since this purebred ponycar has a drag racing history. With a N/A SS 396 it would do 11.5 second quarter miles. But I'm gonna try and convince the owner to let me put a blower on it or feed it the bottle.
2.) 1981 Chevrolet C20 (2x4 3/4 Ton) Custom Deluxe Pickup. We're taking this beast down to the frame and doing a complete restoration. Frame will be line-x'd as well as the bottom of the cab and bed. Front end body panels will all be replaced and everything painted Fire-engine red. The 305 that's ready to come out is going to be replaced with a 350 with a Holley Fuel Injection kit with a AEM ECU.
Yeah, things have changed since that last post.
