Alright I told my mom about me going to the convention and staying in the hotel for all 3 days. She looked at me and asked me what a furry was. In response I told her "an animal with human traits... or mascot for less complicated answer." She looked at me and rolled her eyes, good thing is she's gonna help me with the sewing of my costume (cheers) as well as my art teacher at school said she allows me to stay after school in which she'll help me carve out the foam and make my fursuit. It does say in the rules if you turn 18 before convention time that it's fine to come with ones self? (Is just making sure so I don't come to the door and get sent back.) |

Yes, that's correct on the age. And, as far as your mom doing that "eye roll and everything else" bit, eh, it's a parent thing. The fact that she's HELPING you is a huge step.
She may not understand your hobbies, but she's at least wanting to get into it. Bravo. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Yeah it could've been worse and have absolutely no help doing this and be stuck on my own. I don't need a costume, but I've always wanted one to goof off in and have fun.

Yes, if you are 18 on the day of the convention (and have government issued photo ID that proves it), you can attend on your own.
Still doesn't hurt to drag your parent(s) along so they can see first hand what the convention is all about.

It would be nice to have them come, but I'm more afraid of my younger siblings coming and running all over the place and causing chaos. Would be very bad.

permalinkThat's why you get that matting in your ears and poke their eyes out if they misbehave.
But, then again, you'd have BLIND kids running around and causing chaos.

lol I think that'd be worse than the viewing ones. I can just imagine it.
-little brother and sister running down the hallway and smack into a wall-
That would hurt a lot. >.<
