Contact method being considered a junk e-mail?

This has got me wondering. When contacting other members via the Contact tab it seems that the e-mail sent to them is considered junk e-mail and the individual never gets it. While I haven't had this problem contacting one member, it seems to have reared its ugly head contacting some others.

I've gotten e-mail via the AC's website contact function from other people. But, I'm wondering why, when I use it, that it sometimes goes straight to the person's Junk E-mail Folder and they never get it in the first place.

My assumption would be that it has to do with the settings of the recipient's email.

They would have to be some strict settings. Junk e-mail filters usually, but not always, filter out e-mail that does not have the recipient's e-mail address in the To: line.

Well, I don't know. That would be my guess, I suppose.

I have yet to see any consistancy at all in what gets through the junk mail filters I've had to use.

Same here. Well, my guess it quite possibly on the mail service that others use. Or, they're just ignoring the e-mail. ^_^

My own E-mail settings are designed to reject all mail from senders not in my address book. So, if I receive an E-mail from the PM system here which is labeled with an address that my address book does not recognize, then it is marked as spam.

That depends, really. In some setups like Gmail, spam filtering is done automatically. But what's neat is that the spam filter can be "trained" by marking spams that slip by as "spam" and ones erroneously filtered as "not spam".

The recent issue I had with with contact email getting marked as spam causes me to now periodically type "in:spam anthrocon" into Gmail's search box, to make sure that nothing gets by.
