Furry Writers

I am just wondering if there any writers talking or are going to be at AnthroCon? It's just that I am writing a novel which could be classified furry and I would love to talk with like minded people and get some advice. |

I used to write, but mostly scripts. Tho, I haven't done that in about 6 months, so not sure if I'd be considered a TRUE writer.

That's actually a very popular topic within furry writing. I myself have been planning a story about something like this for some time, although I'm too busy with other stories to start it.

I write. Been published, too. Anthrocon, though, is not the best time or place to chat with me!

No, but its the best place to listen to you tell stories.
Anyone agree with me on that?

I prefer the applebee's while he's eating my soup.
What a punk.

permalinkI am confident there will be more than one writing panel in the schedule of events.
I'd recommend marking them in your schedule and showing up, THEN looking for
furry writers. The odds of finding them will climb astronomically.

I love literature. I'll try to give any advice I can. If, that is I can go. Sadly, I'm underage to go anywhere without permission.

While there are bound to be writers at AnthroCon, - I'd like to point out that there are at least two master-class writers in Australia, who have written both Furry and Non-furry, Fantasy.
I am referring to Paul Kidd and Craig Hilton. Mr. Kidd was even a past Guest of Honor (Honour?) at AC. His best-known Furry books are "Mus of Kerbridge", "A Whisper of Wings" (Furry enough, anyway; excellent, regardless!) and "Fangs of Kaath", and its' sequel. He also printed a biting satire of the world of Big Publishing, titled "FEY", and is currently self-publishing under his own KitsunePress label.
Dr. Hilton has both written AND illustrated stories for fan publications, particularly his stories of Wymper the Rat, for XANADU/EVER CHANGING PALACE.
AnthroCon will have some writers, and some small-press publishers, but be aware of the treasures who are much closer to your home, and perhaps can be met at local SciFi or Fantasy or Animation/Anime conventions back in Australia.

What a coincidence that we should bump into each other here, too.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks, but I have a co-author to brainstorm with. But if you wanted to meet at the Con, that would be cool.

permalinkOnce again this year, Buni Tracer, Myself (Ashe), Matty Rat and several others will be teaching writing panels at AnthroCon, we are this year going to have time to discuss writing. I believe, all three of us are published by this point, and I just finished my Master in Fine Arts Writing. So you have plenty of choices.

I'll be there as usual to spread gloom and desolation, if you want me to participate at all. Going to have Iron Author? I need that. I need to find some new way to be bad.

By the way, I was thinking of submitting a story for the con book again. Anybody know where to send that stuff? There's con book information up, but it says to send your submissions to book2007 at somewhere or other by April 30, 2007, and I don't think I can make that deadline at this point.

I'm a furry and a writer. I'm writing a story called, "Lightning Before Daybreak" but I'll claim the pseudonym Professor Rigeli when it gets released.

There is an entire track of events pertaining to writing at Anthrocon.
Be sure to look for those events, and perhaps you'll find a few that will inspire you.
