Hello everyone,
this will be my first con and i have a few questions about it and some about the laws in that area.
well, for starters, im 17. and i already have permission from my father to go once we are able to fill out the parental consent form.
um, im not sure about laws as far as curfew goes in that area, but would i have any problems with that there? i would be making the trip alone if possible because my father really isn't into it and doesn't want to go
also, i would also like be able to donate/sponsor a bit as well, can i do that at the door or do i need to call ahead or anything?
those few things as well as any suggestions or advice you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jesse

There's no curfew issues in Pittsburgh that I know of. Though we do not recommend staying up all hours of the night.
Yes, you can make a donation or upgrade your membership a the door. We get a fair bit of that every year.

permalinkJust wanted to remind you that an adult needs to reserve hotel rooms,
so you need to work out with someone 18 or older to split a room with.
(I mean, find a roomie 18 or older who can legally reserve the room.)
The roomshare forum will be open any month now....

Jesse,
Welcome and we look forward to seeing you at the convention! Please do keep something in mind. Pittsburgh is a large city and we will be in the downtown area. While we have not had trouble in the past, it's always prudent to travel in a group should you decide to go out downtown in the evenings.
Also, as has been mentioned before, it would be a good idea to contact the hotel in advance and make certain all of your arrangements are in good order so there are no problems when you arrive. The staff at the Westin has been very friendly and will answer all of your questions and help make certain that your check-in will be very smooth.
Let me also make a programming suggestion. Uncle Kage, 2 the Ranting Gryphon, and I hold a panel called "So this is your first convention". It's always held early on Friday as one of our first programming panels. It's an excellent and entertaining way to get to know a few things baout how Anthrocon runs, different events, and some of our unique convention standards (such as fursuiters get priority on elevators).
Also, we do have a presence on Livejournal if you post there. Just join the anthrocon community and you can also see people's discussions there.
Hope this was helpful! And again. looking forward to seeing you at AC2008!
