Sup peoples: Looking to get a skate session organized for AC this year. Longboards, skateboards, blades, whatever. Just think it would be fun to get a group together and go for a cruise around the city! Anyone else interested in getting in on this? Looking to gauge interest..... Peace folks! Sen |

Just bear this in mind:
Note that the entire area around Anthrocon is considered "business district." If you are going to skate, you'll need to stay in the street, at which point I would greatly worry about your safety.
I do not know if skating is permitted in Point State Park, which is nearby. I strongly suggest you contact the City of Pittsburgh ahead of time and find out before you make any plans.

I also found this:
I've also discovered that Point State Park has a "bike and inline skate trail" running through it.

permalinkThat would be truly epic, but I have a feeling it would be extremely tough to pull off
. A longboarding suiter would probably be more realistic... would make epic video nonetheless.

Don't have a fursuit...Can't quite afford it, but the blades and hockey equipment are in full swing. I'm not much of a trickster when it comes to my skating, but I throw a mean hip check.

permalinkWow, that helps to know that there's a couple of spots where we can get away with skating legally. So yay, maybe this can still happen.
Legal issues aside, it would be great to have some folks in ears / tails / whatever show up at the local spots and get some great WTF looks- especially as they show off having some skate skills.
Thanks for your help on sorting out some of these initial issues, friend!

Cool, this sounds like fun. I have not skated in a long time, but I could dig out my old board. As far as skateboarding in suit, I have done it before. You just can't do anything fancy. The grip tape is really hard on paw bases if you go crazy with the tricks.

If I'm able to make it to the con (which I SHOULD have already decided...) I would love to go! It's a good thing I can skatebaord and inline, both fairly well.
And I think that the tail/ears idea would be awesome.

permalinkGood deal, folks! Thats what I like to see- the skaters comin out of the woodwork
For those of you with longboards, lets hope that the state park area has some hills to bomb- I know I'll certainly be looking to rock out in that regard1
I could totally see a parade of furry skaters rollin down into the local spots. Its full of awesomes, to be sure.

permalinkI'm sorry to everyone else, but I gotta say this.
JORZ5. Dude. Seriously. You need to stop posting such bogus replies. I don't think none of us believe you. All you do is brag of this/these car(s) that we have yet to see real pictures of. Pictures [read: real] are worth a thousand words. Words on a computer screen aren't.
1. You say you're 15 and have a Provisional license. Please do tell. Because, I've spoken with a few UK people and they tell me that you must be 17 to get one. No "if's", "and's", or "but's" about it. Explain that one. Tho, you'll probably come up with another attemp to get away with the red tape.
Proof = http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/LearnerAndNewDrivers/LearningToDriveOrRide/DG_4022661
An excerpt: Normally, for car drivers, the earliest date your provisional licence can become valid is your 17th birthday, however you can apply for the licence up to three months before your 17th birthday.
So, no way you can have a Provisional license at your age. Information was provided for me from a UK friend of mine.
2. There's no way at being the age of 15 you could be making enough money to build up (or buy) an R34 Skyline. Unless you won the Lottery or inherited a large amount of money from a relative. You can't fool someone who's worked in the field of mechanics and auto parts and has dealt with aftermarket modification and tuning. Building up an R34 Skyline to produce even 500HP will cost you A LOT of money. Actually, buying one already built will cost a lot of money.
Example: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/275232.htm
A Nissan Skyline R34 GTR w/34k miles and being a '99 model (with 500BHP) will cost you about £30,000 in the UK. That's $59,540.94 USD over here. Very expensive. I've seen enough Skylines and their prices. Lovely cars. Did I mention expensive?
3. You brag about "drifting around the city and not having the cops catch you". Good luck with that. One, because there's no way you can get that car over here so easily. Two, it's a city and there's no room to do that reckless driving you're wanting to do. Three, cops will be watching you. Four, such bragging just makes people shake their heads at you for such immature, reckless behavior. Other people on the road do not appreciate that kind of foolishness.
Please, stop posting the same type of replies about your supposed Skyline and whatever other cars you may have, over and over. Not really fooling/impressing anyone, comrade.

Volk - Awesome post, it had to be done. Nice job on the research, too
JOR5Z - Hey man, pretty much everyone here knew you were full of it, we just wanted you to drop the act. It may seem like a great idea to impress people by making things up, but trust me, it's a really bad idea. Not only will those tall tales unravel if you continue to develop friendships based on them, but many of us can see right through them, and think less of you for that.
On the other hand, having been in your position myself once upon a time, I think it speaks to your character that you came clean about this, and I'm impressed that you did it so readily. I, for one, won't hold this against you, and I hope others feel the same way.
