If I can make a guess...I'd say about a hundred million fanboys now crying out "Why are they remaking 4 but not 7?! 7 was the greatest thing in the world and still is even though they have much better games now but 7 will always be the bestest because we say so and Square-Enix needs to stop making fun new games and remake an old one even though we berated them for it before we'll make an exception for it this time"
Yes the run-on was intentional.

Remind me again why they don't rename their cash cow "Perpetual Fantasy"?
It's almost like they forgot how to make good games after Bushido Blade and disguised it by calling them "Final Fantasy" over and over again...

permalinkDepends on what floats your boat. I myself only played 2 FF games. I borrowed FFX2 from a friend and was like, "Wow this is friggin awesome! This is what I've been missing out ON?!" Then I borrowed FFX, understood a bit more of the story, but that was about all it was good for. Very good story, very poor battle & leveling up system.
Anyway, FFX + FFX2 and FF7 seem to be the most popular because those two have the most original and well-told stories. The others (from what I'm told), have rehashed stories or very little at all (like two or three spinoffs from FF7)
I don't plan on buying or playing any others though. X-2 was enough for me. Nowadays I play Oblivion. Will probably buy Mass Effect eventually.

8 wasn't my style, but lookie here http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/114822.html <---watch after the credits .. Does SE need bi*** slapped? I think so they took some of the tech demo it seems and added a few new scenes to it ... And yes THIS is after the end of the jap version of crisis core
oh and a small edit heres the tech demo so you can see just what scenes got added

permalinkYes apparently I'm the only person in the *entire* world that liked X-2. Frankly, for as popular as X is (not nearly as popular as 7, but still popular itself at the time), I can't understand why more people don't like X-2. X-2 had a better battle system, better graphics, better level up system BY FAR, more open-endedness, more side-quests, and a lot more humor in the dialogue. Frankly all X had was a slightly better story and a male lead character which seems to lead to a lot of people not having ego problems (as opposed to playing a game with a female lead).
The story gave a lot of tie-ins with the first, tied up most loose ends especially including that very sweet ending, and it was very interesting to see what happened in the world after it had been saved and everyone could go back to reconstructing their lives.

I liked the class system for it, but over all story wise it was like ok.. I liked 10, but not enough to have more of the story thrown at me .. Just like I like 12, but abit off about the DS game thought it could be good.. who knows.
Though I'm still pissed about the FF7 thing

permalinkI'm still trying to figure out why Sony would spend a TRUCKLOAD of money completely re-rendering the opening scene for FF7 with PS3-capable graphics, and just stop there. Yeah, it worked as a demo, but so did any of the titles coming out for the PS3. There's something odd that they went out of their way to re-make the graphics for a game they never intended to remake fully. And for the graphics I saw on the vid, it had to cost a *lot* of money.
*I should note that I'm going off of what people have told me, that Square never intended to remake it. I never heard about any remakes for their other games (like 4), so maybe they said something along the lines of "there are no definitive plans yet".

In the video that comes after CC credits THEY ADDED to the tech demo. I didn't take a good count, but theres at least 2-3 new scenes in there. Why do something so 'cuse my lang .. FUCKING stupid like that if they said there would never be a remake.
Thats what has me pissed off and this is taken off the fact they said they wasn't making a remake.

permalinkI agree. I loved FF7 and I hated it when they did the demo only to show the performance of the PS3 and doing a remake. How dare they tease us with that?
