Hi! Someone brought up bringing a video camera and that reminded me finally of a question I had after the convention but had totally forgotten about. My friends and I bring a video camera with us to conventions for our own personal use. We record ourselves being...ourselves and then later after the convention have a tape party and watch it all together. It's absolutely for our own personal use and is not released publically and is totally hilarious except the parts where we forget to turn it off and it's recording the floor. In two places we were informed by staff we could not record ourselves. One was in the dance one night (which probably would have been pointless anyway because it was dark Thanks for any insight you can give! |

) and the other was in the hotel lobby when we were waiting in line for the elevator to go to our rooms. There are two possible explanations:
1) A miscommunication on our part with the staff,

Do you recall if it was hotel staff or convention staff?
Anyway, like Sam said, if you run into problems next year, please come by Con Ops so we can get it sorted out. Thanks!

permalinkIt was definitely convention staff both times. They were very nice about it of course but just gave the explanation "No filming in this area." Both times we were filming just ourselves. The first time it was staff at the entrance to the dance, and the second time it was staff handling the elevator line (the ones making sure the fursuit peeps got on first and that the elevator wasn't overloaded etc.).
And thanks to you both.
