not sure what forum part to stick this under but whatever here seems as good a place as any
any way here it goes:

My girlfriend is about to have knee surgery and (depending on how it goes and what the doctor says for recovery) it may not be good for her going up and down the stairs all the time. Would it be possible to get here some sort of vader-pass so she can get on with the fursuiters? I would be perfectly happy running up the stairs and meeting her at the top if you can do that.

if everything goes the way we hope might (i do not have a clue how long recovery will take) not even be a problem but i figure id ask now instead of a few weeks before the con when people are running round trying to get ready.

Vader-pass... I like that. Smiling

Unless I'm missing something, I don't think she'll have to do anything different, as non-fursuited folks are allowed to take the elevators too. Fursuiters simply get bumped to the front of the line.

On a related note, I'd like to point out that if your girlfriend simply wants to travel between the first three floors of the Westin (as opposed to the higher floors where the guest rooms are), there is a separate set of two elevators that run between those 3 floors and the parking garage. That set is typically underused during the convention, so we try to advertising them as much as we can.

Let me know if that covers all of your concerns or if I missed anything, thanks!

Between the first three floors of the Westin (lobby, function rooms for panels, registration, the Zoo) are a separate set of two elevators, and there's some
escalators between them. (I usually use the escalators.)

The Dorsai direct traffic at the main elevators (the ones to the sleeping rooms) pretty efficiently, so even during busy times, it's usually only a few minutes to reach the elevator.

And the convention center's got escalators too-plus one or more elevators it's
probably not worth the trouble to locate while the escalators are working.

Hello there! Apparently you'll be rooming with me. Smiling

I'll be at the convention early, so I'll try to get a room on a lower floor. Good think I found out about this beforehand, as I never really care about the floor and just look at running up 21 flights of stairs carrying luggage as a ninja training exercise. 8]
