#2: Well, there's no particular need to contact Anthrocon itself; you just show up at the con later. Registration is open all days of the convention so you can get your badge. If you'll be running a day late for the hotel room, you should contact the hotel and any roommates, perhaps.
#3: You can fly it as close as the nearest airport, I would assume. KPIT is a busy commercial-traffic-heavy airport, so if you're flying in there..w ell, you'll have to set that up with that airport, or another. The David Lawrence Convention Center has no airstrip of its own.

permalinkI actully have landed (in flight simulator x) a Cessna Skyhawk in front of Anthrocon! But the hard part was finding a parking space.
Rember that was Flight Simulator X. If I did it in real life, I would lose my liscence.

Yeah i don't know about landing a private aircraft at KPIT, it's a commercial airport. But, i'm sure you could fly to AC. i did hear they have a landing strip on the top of the DLCC. i believe it's available for private aircraft. so you could probably land there and then park it in the parking garage. or if it's busy there is plenty of landing space in the strip district, which is actualy pretty close to the DLCC. although i do hear that the parking rates are a little high.
and if you get delayed, you should contact the president immediately, he will forward the message to the hotel staff to prepare for your arival. maybe let the airforce know too. you can never be too careful.
can you skywrite? if you can it would be awesome if you wrote out FURRIES RULE over pittsburgh before you land.

If you don't have your IFR license yet, I would think that the big airports really wouldn't want you to land there except in an emergency.

I thought I posted this already, but my response seems to have vanished. International airports generally are not friendly to general aviation because of problems with congestion. There are a number of smaller airports in the area that are more appropriate for general aviation. You can take a look at the following links.

I checked the logs, and the last comment I saw posted from you was this one.
Did you purrhaps press "Preview comment" instead of "Post comment" by mistake?

I am not certain if a personal jet can land at Pittsburgh's main airport, but about 30-45 minutes south west of PGH in the Pleasant Hills area is a smaller AirPort that has personal jets land all the time there. I can't remember the name of it though. It's about 15minutes from Century III Mall.
From there you should be able to catch the PAT Transit to downtown. The buses have the scheduals of all the other PAT Transit bus routes - usually.
Hope I was able to help.
