Hello, everyone. Smiling *waves a paw* New member here. I'm a bit shy and nervous, so go easy on me, ok? LOL

Anyway, I was at AC07 last year and now I'm hoping to go back again this year. One thing I'd like to try is running my own fursuit panel. What do I need to know and who do I contact about running a panel?
* Do panels have to have a set time length limit to them? (1 hour, 2 hours, etc.)
* If I need supplies such as audio/video equipment or anything else, then who do I talk to about that?
* Can I request a specific time frame (day/hour of day) to have the panel or is that determined by the con staff only?
* Are there any special rules or regulations I need to know first before having a panel?
* Is there a deadline for submitting panel ideas and requests to the con staff?

In general, I recommend reading the entire FAQ at least once a year.
(It cuts down on my OWN mistakes, at least.)

As to the rest, I can give you an unofficial opinion as someone
who's survived running and being on panels.

A) the longer the panel, the harder it is to schedule you.
I'd rather radically rework my events to squeeze them down to
3 hours than ever try another 4-hour block on the schedule.
Also, most people won't commit to ATTENDING a panel that long.

If you can run a panel within an hour, that's better than 2,
and 2 is better than 3. The shorter they are, and the fewer
the demands, the easier it is to fit you in.

B) Check with programming as to physical and technical requirements.
The worst thing that can happen is they refer you to someone else.

C) You can request a specific time of day, and day. Whether or
not you get it is up to them, but they will do their best to work
with you so long as it doesn't cause a problem.
(So far, I've gotten everything reasonable I've ever asked-
including a 4-hour block of time when requested.)

D) Read all the FAQ for all the rules of conduct and so on.
Exercise common sense. If something MIGHT be unsafe, they don't
want it. Check in advance if something's questionable.

E) There is a deadline, I don't know what it is.
There will be announcements when it approaches.
If I were you, I'd email them with questions NOW so that they're
not answering everyone's questions at the last minute.
(I emailed them on questions already myself.)

You should also speak to our programming director.

Also try clicking the "Suggest a panel" link under "Volunteer info" on the left.

Hello. Back again. Smiling I was just wondering how long it takes to hear back from the Fursuit Programming Track Lead (or any other staff) about Fursuit Panel ideas or other ideas that are suggested for AC? I sent in 2 suggestions back around Feb. 1st. One was for a fursuit panel and the other was for a suggestion to have the Fursuit Parade being led by a Husky fursuiter sled team. Both email suggestions were sent by my regular fursona name of Kobuk that I use. If the programming staff needs to contact me further about these suggestions, I can be reached at: cbhusky (at) tds (dot) net

Thanks.

Generally I run 2-3 fursuit panels at Anthrocon or Furfright, but I was thinking of taking it easy this year. If you need help brainstorming, IM me (AIM) Gangrelsprogeny or (Yahoo) themadhyjinxofg
