Whoever said you needed to know how to dance? Heck, just get in there and MOVE! Whatever you do, make sure that it does not involve destruction of property or injuring others (or yourself!)
I remember a couple years back that I decided to do a spinning heel kick. My poor glasses fell out of my pocket and I stomped on them. @_X
Oh well... least they were cheap $10 glasses. lol

There is a panel that we will probably have returning called "Fursuit Dance 101". DEX usually hosts it, and it's been very popular and effective for the last couple fo years.

To some extent, yes. And certainly that's all it takes to dance.
To dance well, however, often requires you to learn not only what feels good on your body but what also looks good on your body. For that, from what i've seen, fursuit dancing 101 would be a good option, even for non-fursuiters. I've also had some luck by watching others at dances and clubs and whatnot and seeing if i can borrow simple movements from them.

No idea how to dance? I'm gonna give you a five minute primer:
1) Open mouth.
2) Insert liquor.
3) Hear music.
4) If your body doesn't take over now, go back to step one and repeat until you're dancing.
There's actually a valid point to this:
90% of people who suck at dancing suck at it because they're afraid of looking stupid, or trying to copy specific 'moves'. Restrained movement or attempting to soften what you're doing kills a lot of the flow of your dance. Attempting to repeat things you've seen done previously also can kill it. It's a form of self-expression; treat it that way. There's no set way to dance - it's moving in time with music. Don't flail around like a jackass and start air guitaring, just move to the beat and don't worry about what everyone else is thinking. Have fun, and if you're having fun and not being rude or encroaching on the space of other dancers, you'll be fine. Guarantee it.
If you're looking for a more 'rave' oriented sort of dance, the one everyone does most is liquid, that sorta smooth flow of your hands. That's not too hard to do well. Find different positions in front of, behind or next to you that you can get your hands to and meet them in time with the beats. Find patterns that you can do that have a nice flow to them (the most common one you see is the figure-eight in front of the torso) and repeat them, taking breaks to move your arms out a little bit more. Bounce a little bit in time with the music to give your feet something to do. Want to get really fancy? Move your arms fast when the kick drum hits, then slow down until the next kick to get a sorta 'pumping' movement going on.
The liquor helps.

permalinkIf you want to enjoy dancing, just remember that you're at a con and wanting to have fun, just like everyone else. Dex and Tech-Fox's Dancing 101 video gives some good pointers.

Just let the music move you, you don't need alcohol to "loosen you up". That's just a poor-man's attempt. And, really, you'd be amazed at how a few simple moves can be an enjoyable dance.

Was a joke.
Also, have you ever bought liquor in PA? Absolutely not the poor man's attempt.

Those where awesome. Now I really want to go to the Fursuit Dancing 101.
It was actually that furry rave video that made me want to learn how to dance... oh, two years ago?

A lot of dancing comes from inside. Letting the groove or rhythm of a song flow through you and take control of your movements, almost like being a puppet for the music.
That being said, while there's no for sure right or wrong way to dance, Tek-Fox and Dex's panel on dancing in fursuit is a good place to start for some pointers!
