It worries me just because I am a some months away from turning 21, and I would like to know what is the actual age restriction for checking in into a hotel or inn.

I know we stayed at the Omni last year and it said on the site (the Omni's site) the age to check-in was 21, but nobody even questioned me about it (I was over 21 but believe me I don't look it). I'm not sure about the Westin.
So wait, they won't let someone check into the hotel if they are 18? Even though they are now considered by law to be adults?

The Omni is still private property. They set their age limit for a reason; although I do not know what it is in this particular case, I can think of about a thousand scenarios that, if I were a manager, would lead me to say, "I only want people over 21 in my hotel."
Almost all beach-front hotels have an age limit of 21, for obvious reasons. Seems to vary pretty widely in cities, though. I guess the Omni wants to cater to a more sophisticated crowd than their competitors?
According to the FAQ to the left, you have to be 18 to sign for the hotel room. If you're just shy of 21, it shouldn't be a problem.
(Note: this is based on the Age Question in the FAQs. If I'm wrong, I'm sure Kage will correct me... and then have the FAQ corrected as well.)

The Omni relaxes that requirement for us.
The minimum age to rent a room at either hotel is 18, as per PA state law.

I'm not sure how I can be any more clear about this. o.O

Make sure your friend states that they are with the Anthrocon Convention.
If that doesn't work, please advise them to call back during business hours, or make the reservations online.
