You're not the only one excited.

permalinkA better question to ask would be "Is there anyone here that is not excited?".

permalinkThe following is from Anthrocon's website's FAQ (Frequently-Asked Questions), specifically from
http://www.anthrocon.org/faq/hotel
"I want to reserve a room, but I do not have (or do not want to use) a credit card. What do I do?
Call 1-800-843-6664 to make your reservation and ask them to list it as "deposit pending." They will make the reservation, but until you actually send a deposit the room will not be guaranteed. That means if we sell out, they'll just go ahead and cancel your reservation in favor of someone with a credit card or who has already sent a deposit. Once you have made the reservation, send a check for the requested amount directly to the hotel. Write your confirmation number on the check and enclose a note indicating that it is a deposit toward that reservation number, and re-affirm your arrival and departure dates. Ask for a receipt to be sent."

I WOULD do that, but I would rather just wait untill a few months from now and just pay with a credit card.
I don't want to take the chance that i might forget to send the check in.

I should really hate to think that, 11 months out, we have to have rooms reserved, to avoid being left out. How soon did the hotel fill up for this AnthroCon just past?
Mercy! We beg mercy! It is just a _little_ too far into the future, to be able to make firm plans for most of us!

permalinkIIRC,
all the rooms were full as of APRIL, but it may have been MARCH.
The vast majority of us wait until at least that CALENDAR YEAR before making a reservation.

permalinkIf you're rooming with 3 other people in a quad, how do you register that room? One person makes the reservation and the rest give the remainder to the reservee?

One person makes the reservation and (optionally) gives the names of the other roomies to the hotel.
As for payment, that's up to the occupants of the room. I've been in some arrangements before at prior cons where I just gave cash/check to the person who reserved the room or they did the same to me when I was the one who reserved the room. That's been the most convienent way for me.

It costs no money up front, so as soon as you know your travel plans, I suggest making the reservation.

This is my first year going to anthrocon. I cant wait to meet other furs. Just wondering if anyone would like to room with me. Probably just me and my friend otherwise. This would help me out in expenses since i live in New Orleans and will be flying there also. Still have to find money! Its hard to find work here now. If you are interested contact me here:

permalinkThe RoomShare forum and RideShare forum will be open early 2007. There will be much discussion on those forums as to travel.
If you want to use the forums, please observe the Sticky/FAQ for that forum. (Like, what to label the thread, and so on.)
If you want to make some friends now before you even CONSIDER rooming or riding with someone, that's a good idea. I roomed with someone I knew for about 6 months before the con, so we were confident we could trust each other, and had an idea of what to expect from each other.

I've booked my hotel, 5 nights, gotten my badge, supersponser, and I have my flights already selected, waiting to be booked as soon as I get paid. Asked off for it already too!
I am beyond excited, checking every day for a programming schedual, even though I am sure it won't be up for quite some time. Hrm, whatelse am I going nuts on.....
Oh, found out from a Travel Agent where I work, that the best time to book a flight online (at least when way ahead of time) is Tuesday or Wednesday after 11:00 PM PST, thats when the airlines reprice, make the rates go down, sometimes.

The earlier, the better. (Though if I don't go faster, I may end up staying at the Omni again... and I would not want that.)
If you do register early, and this is a personal recommendation, print out your registration, receipts, hotel registration, flight information, and anything else of importance. And make copies. What I did last year is I stored all of my information in an envelope, clearly labelled, and kept it in plain sight. It kept reminding me daily.
Also, call the hotel to make sure that your reservations are still there a month before you fly to the 'con. Call me paranoid, but I like to make sure that things run smoothly when I get there.

Does anyone know when the Hotel generally fills up? I'd sort of like to wait a while to get my room but I know if I wait too long there's not gonna be a room for me, nya? -_-;
*EDIT* Oops, maybe I shoulda looked at all the posts before I asked... ^^;
Well, does anyone know how many people they'll let you have staying in one room?

The room rate is good for up to 4 people. The Fire Marshall is not very happy with having more than that in one room, so don't let anyone catch you with more!

I booked my own room because I have Really high problems with privacy issues. I know I should have a roomie, and I might if i find the right person..but..yeah. Sorry.. i do understand some furs might get annoyed..but i enjoy my privacy x.x

I know I can't wait! Apparently my (our) room was booked by one of the people I was planning to room with.
Imagine this: "Hey we should really book a room for AC'07"
"I did that like a month ago"
"... oh"
Here's hoping I have some more money than I did last year! ^_^

I don't know about booking my own room. I figure I'd just hook up with someone who already has a room. Which gets me thinking, is there a feature on the site that has info on rooms available and a list of those who already have their rooms reserved?
