Anyone from our *little* forum want to try and have a meet up in Second life? Ohhhh, idea! Hehe, I think i might want to go buy some land soon and make a life sized David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Obvoiusly since i have yet to go to AC, My new project will not be done until AFTER AC '07. But we can still meet up in SL, thats if anyone wants to. |

Even though I don't do SL regularly, I think a replica of the DLCC would be neat!

UGH...
I just did some intinsive calculations on how many Prims would be in the building.... and it would be some where around 1235 prims..... So i thought
"Why not just buy an entire Island instead of just buying the land needed for it? That way i could even include rooms from the Westin Inn and sell them/ rent them for SL money!"
The only prob is that an island costs money....
about 1250 dollars (and thats in US DOLLARS) ..... sigh....... Hmmmm.... land......

Thats what i was thinking, and i also thought up how it would be a great way for people who have never gone to see what it looks like (like a virtual tour) and also it could be a great tool for the planning commit.
The PC could use it to figure out the placement of everything instead of having to use their memories and maps and such (my train of thought went missing). That way they could see how everything looked (cause i would build the booths, and all that other jazz (i LOVE to build things on SL)) BEFORE they went to pittsburg. Basically what i am say in this paragraph is that they could have me place all the art booths, the stuff for the Masked Ball (Masquerade), and ect down in the SL DCLL before they go and see what might not be all that great about the layout. It could easly be a HUGE help if one just wants to use it.
(Obviously my train of thought was found again)
And if I/we/whoever does indeed buy an island, i thought of instead of just doing DLCC, why not do Westin Inn, and others? The entire sim could be a sim of AC in Second Life!
Any ideas of what i should include (buildings wise) for the island? This is all just an idea, so don't get your hopes up.
I would start to build things needed right now (like roads and booths and stuff) but I am currently stuck on Dial Up. We can nolonger affoard the connection needed, but i am hoked on SL, so *I* will be paying the HS connection fee.
Oh, and the 1250 Island is a SMALL island, a large on would be 5000 big ones (or is it five big ones? :x). Yea......
Whooo, MAN that took forever for me to unjumble out of me mind.

Hmm... it seems like either people cannot run SL or the land in the game is too expensive.
What if maybe we went halfway and created an interactive walkthrough of the convention center. Kinda like what some German Furs did for the city of Augsburg. Thoughts?

I, personally, don't like that idea. It takes away the ability of it being a tool, the ability for a person to look around and interact with the 3D model at things on their own time (also, we could hold an Actual AC in SL, and renting a room next to AC would be PRIME real estate), and it takes away the fun of making the DCLL/Westin Inn.
Oh, and my friend Eillo says that we could also hold OTHER Cons there, like a Star Trek Con, or Comic Con., or fan rallies
You see, people could pay use to hold their own Con on our land in OUR Convention center.
The possibilities are a sideways 8.
And Eillo says that’s the parameters of Dimension No. 5.
And And Theyain says that he sucks at spelling.

Gee whiz, if you've got that much energy and enthusiasm for running a simulated con, we should put you on staff to help run the actual con!

Really? That would be great! Now i know that its not up to just one person to deside that (exspecially considereing that you do the art area), but still, I am just letting it be know that i would love to help! Also, even if you guys did put me on the staff (although i don't think that it will happen), I would still work on AC ISL. Heck, just a few weeks ago (when i did have High Speed) i started to work on a Temple to Foamy, and i didn't stop working on it for the entire week. As in, i did nother BUT work on it for a whole week. Thats about 130 hours of work. Sorry for bragging, but i am just trying to say that when ever i work on something that i love, i do as professional of a job as i can do.
Oh, I WAS going to add this in, but when i read what you said, my mind went *zap*. Soooo... here yo go ^_^
" $1387.5 : Credit Card cost of a Small Island over one year (Paid in full)
$1800 : Years worth of maintenance on the small island
+ $300 : one years worth for a web page
---------
$3487.50
Sooo.... Yea... For me to finish this, i need to get some good cash. But if i DO get it all done, then i can make some serious cash (Some of it will be saved up for a Large Sim {$5000!}, some used to pay for all the costs [like the bill i will have on me credit card], Some for the real AC (Why not?), and the rest will go to something else {Can't think it up right now}, As you can tell, This entire Org will be non profit so i don't have to deal with any (or much) legal stuff on using the Westin and DCLL Names) and also, it will help me make a name in the gaming world.
Yea, thats it, my motivation is for a really good reputation. Why you ask? Because i am a business man and when Our (Eillo's and I's) business goes off into the gaming area, people who have seen the AC ISL will remember the high quality i am going/have put into it. The thing is to help with the sells on a game that is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY out there, and will absolutely blow your mind on the game play. Yea, i was bragging and going off topic, so shoot me.
Back on topic:
So anyone who CAN get on SL (hehe, funny, that doesn't include me right now
) want to lend what ever talents you may have, weather that be Building (My specialty), Scripting (I CAN script, but LSL is to confusing), or just Graphics Editing and Creation (I am getting good at it, but not that great). right now, since i can't get on, i have been making all kinds of images with the okayish Image Editor GIMP (I'm use to the pro Edition of FireWorks).
And Theyain STILL Can't spell worth beans, baens, and Pina Coladas"
Hehe, I love to talk about the AC and Sl and the Furry Fandom in general.

We'll have PLENTY of volunteer opportunities available for next year's con. They'll be up on this wesbsite a few weeks before the con, as we'll have a much better idea of what our needs will be at that point.

permalinkWell I asked yesterday if I could go amd my mom said yes. She even said she would pretty much pay for the whole thing! So I dont know how old you have to be to help out but I would help to.

You need to be 18 to volunteer without parental consent. If you are younger than 18, then you'll need a modified volunteer form signed in advance by one of your parents.

I think so too, but the Aqua Marine ish on Blue seems to look better then the Steel on Blue. And Considering that when it will be uploaded on SL and put onto a Ad Board, the size of the board will be huge, making it much easyer to read.
