Westin and Omni are both full!
|
We have reached the maximum available capacity at both the Westin and the Omni. That does not mean that there is no hope! Remember, the Westin is maintaining a waiting list and will be contacting people on that list as rooms come available. Also, there are bound to be cancellations at both the Westin and the Omni, particularly toward the end of April when the deposits are due, so check back from time to time to see what might have freed up. In the meantime, there are other hotels nearby that you can investigate. |

Well, gosh, it's a shame so few folks want to come this year. No interest, no excitement, just complete doldrums, furs have to be goaded into even considering attendance...Maybe we're just not paying them enough to attend. *grin*

So how does that compare to last year? Earlier, I presume, but lots or a little?

I am working to see if we can arrange some better prices at the surrounding hotels. The trouble is that I am very reluctant to guarantee them a minimum number of rooms, because we cannot predict what the demand will be. If we guarantee them fifty rooms, what if fifty rooms get canceled at the last minute at the Westin or Omni and people cancel to grab those rooms? Then we've got a problem.
Some hotels will agree to an "overflow contract," which has no minimum but offers a reduced rate anyway. I'm sweetening the deal by promising the possibility of a real contract with a minimum guarantee in 2009.

I don't know why anybody would cancel a Courtyard Marriott room (much closer to DLCC) to grab an open Omni room, unless the Omni's got stuff the CM doesn't (including one's buds or a much cheaper rate)...

The Omni is cheaper. And the Courtyard hasn't called me back.
