Doubletree offers Anthrocon some affordable rooms!
|
The Doubletree Pittsburgh Hotel has offered us a very steep discount on rooms -- $119 for up to four people, and $169 for a one-bedroom parlor suite with a foldout sofabed. To get this rate our members would be asked to pay a deposit equal to one night's stay right at the time they reserve (not later on, as with our main hotels). That deposit would not be refundable if the reservation is canceled, and would be applied to the stay upon checkout. To make this offer official, we need to guarantee that at least 20 rooms will be booked. Please help us decide if we can do that by telling us if you are interested! If you do not yet have a hotel room, please visit our Livejournal Community and let us know if you would be willing to take the Doubletree up on this offer. If we get enough interest, we will sign the contract and Anthrocon will have turned yet another Pittsburgh hotel Furry! |

By the way, please note that this contract is not yet in place. Once we are sure that we'll be able to make the minimum commitment, we'll sign the agreement and will make an announcement here when the Doubletree is ready to start taking reservations.

permalinkIs the Double Tree offer available yet?
There's a waiting list at the Westin and since the Omni is full too, I would only assume there's a large group of people looking for hotel rooms - and we're still 4 months away. I'm quite sure filling 20 rooms at the Double Tree would not be a problem at all.
Do we have a large con block (80%+) of hotel rooms already at the Westin and Omni? The Omni seems to have rooms still available at their normal website rate.

We expect to have the link available tomorrow morning (February 27)
The room block at the Westin is 560 rooms.
The room block at the Omni is 170 rooms.
All hotels retain a small number of rooms at the usual "rack rate;" these must be kept available for corporate clients or other guests with whom they have a contractual obligation.
