It looks like our hotel contact is out of town for the week (or so their autoresponder says). So you might not get an answer on your query until next week.

Oh, I am sure its possible, for i remember some of my friends in school went to Anime USA in Washington D.C., and their entire group was under 18. I think all you need is just a signed paper from each persons parents. That would seem to be the most reasonable thing to do at least (getting a paper from you parents saying that they are allowing you to get a room at Westin Inn that is).

Washington D.C. != Pennsylvania
The issue here is state law.

After browsing some of the state laws, I've gotten a basic understanding that you need at least one individual who is over the age of 18 to be a guardian. Especially during a con because if something happened to one of you it could cause alot of problems for the hotel for allowing you to room without an adult.
It would also be safer to have someone 18 or over with you as well. Pittsburgh is a pretty big city, and cons can be very very very busy (as we saw last year) there is alot of confusion going around and not everyone can be everywhere.

I heard back from our hotel contact and the answer is, "Sorry, someone in the group must be 18" in order to get a hotel room.
Now that I think about it, 18 is the minimum legal age which you must be at in order to sign a contract, so that makes sense.

Would it be possible for said party to sign up with 18-year-olds that they don't know? ARG, i can't think right now.
What i am trying to say is that if say I and another friend (both of us are over 18) decided to room share, and we saw that they needed someone who is 18 or older to get a room, would it be possible for us to act as the 18-year-olds needed for their groups? Or anyone they know from here (very well of course)?

The hotel really doesn't care who rooms with whom. All they're concerned about is that the person giving them money is 18. (they like to get paid, you know
)

It's a question of legal responsibility. If something happens to you or the room, it becomes the financial and contractural liability of whichever 18+ legal adult put their name on the room, and they become the first person the hotel calls when there's trouble.

so, the answer as I see it is yes, if you can find someone who is 18 to sign the paper and reserve the room for you as well as pay the bill, then you will be ok, but keep in mind that you had best be sure that everyone in your room will behave and keep from causing or getting into trouble or that nice 18 year old person who was kind enough to put his name on the bill will likely not be so nice knowing that he is held responsible for said problems and trouble.
You probably wont have to worry about trouble as long as you trust everyone in your room, but also be sure you trust the 18 year old. The fact is, he will have access to your room even if you dont give him a key. His name is on the bill, therefore he can just walk up to the desk, show his ID and instantly be allowed into the room as soon as the desk clerk makes a key for the room. Even though his name is on the bill, he might be tempted to cause some trouble of his own, harmless or not. Even if it means being banned from reserving rooms at the hotel in the future. Generally legal trouble will deter most people from causing said trouble, but there is always that other portion that doesnt care. All in all, make sure you trust both the other minors in the group as well as the 18 year old person who is representing you. Just some safety advice to keep in mind, nothing more, nothing less.
