I went to the Microsoft Launch event yesterday. Speaker asked an entire crowd of software developers, "What's new in the news?" and not a single one answered with Gygax. I was saddened.

i dun' want to sound like a nerd, but Gygax made a lotta my days with the rulebook, never did get a chance to play the originals, and never will i think... but the ruleset still is the best
