Industrial and materials suppliers will have that sort of thing, so check the phone book and make some calls. You probably won't be able to order something like that online, but there should be someplace relatively nearby that can help you.
I've had to deal with places like that myself, though I don't make fursuits. My ex is quite creative with a wide variety of materials (particularly plastic and metal), with very specific and often obscure ideas, and I usually helped with his shopping when he came up with a new project that required a specific type of plastic or something.
If there isn't a suitable supplier to get your materials in your town, look at the next largest town/city near you. Rinse and repeat until you find what you need
There isn't much in a small town in the middle of nowhere Alaska which has a popultion of 7k. Usually items like the foam I've to order from 1) the lower 48(the US to some people who don't know Alaska is part of the US XD ) or 2) Canada
I seen those while googling, and those are not the blocks I'm looking for when I say EVA foam. I'm talking about commercial grade EVA foam where I can say, "I need type 30, type 75, or type 80."
Those are just yoga blocks, and I wouldn't know what type those blocks are without ordering and finding out. I don't know about you, but I don't like to waste money.
If its not available online and not available near you, then your only option left is to beg someone who DOES have a supplier near them to buy some for you and ship it up to you
yeah, I've been figuring that out. I know I'll be able to get the foam from people who make speed boats or safety gear.
I just need to find people who use the foam and order it from them. I need to find a shoemaker in the US who can sell me rubber sheeting, if possible. :/ All these materials. Least I'm able to make the rest of the suit until I get those materials. I've a store with plenty of FIMO, thread, ordering some really nice faux fur, brass wire, and other supplies needed. Since I'm so remote in Alaska, it is difficult to get what i need sometimes.
I already found the perfect fur @ britex. I was looking for in the first place. Its a grey fur with blue tips, about 1/2-3/4" long and tightly woven. I also bought some nice white shag for the chest which is shavable so I can make the chest look longer.
Paul at Britex was very helpful, and even sent me loads of swatches, though I'm going to make a dragon after this so I ordered the whole 7 yards of fabric because its not that easy to come by unless I order it from China. The fabric made its way to britex because it was designer runoff. I've other two toned fur swatches from them. I like the black with dark mossy green. Then there is a black with orange tips. Theres some really nice brown fur which would be great for a beaver. I far there comparing 25 different swatches he sent me. I told him what I was making and what I needed, he looked through parting the fur to see if it was the thickness I needed and sent me the swatches. They're really great.
Unfortunately UPS always screws me on shipping, though I did order quite a bit of fur. 81USD for shipping to Alaska. 7 yards two toned grey with blue tips, 4 yards white, 1 yard black, the total came to about 310USD + shipping. Only part of what I need to order, though I'm saving some because a friend is giving me her sewing machine.
I've FIMO locally, though I need brass wire, solder, a heat source, I need to figure out what eyes I'm going to make, low-high temp hot glue gun, threads, soling sheets, EVA or other foam, various sewing supplies, stuffing, elastic straps, zipper, leather, and leather needles/or awe.
I'm going to be making some neat leather well.. coverings on the ankles, wrists, and if I've enough material left over, a body strap. Don't know if it will look good without burning some type of pattern in to it though, I'm a perfectionist. I just hope I can get the leather work done by the time AC comes around since it can be a royal pain to create by hand.
X) I must be working too hard. I live in Homer, Alaska.... This is a fishing town... with well... boats.. There are businesses here which supply those boats with well.. FOAM(EVA foam, and many different types) and the type of rubber I'm looking for to make the suit.

Foam warehouses, that provide foam for computer shipping, also have it, and for a good deal cheaper than boating places.
A great place for high qual faux fur is here: www.imstuffedfur.com
