hey, this isnt guarunteed as its a bit early to be sure, but im posting this for two people who plan to come next year and would like to both let people know about their stores and find out some info about potential buyers.

One plans to sell plushies, particularly Boyde and Beany Babies. She has quite the selection to sell, including a few of the popular "Sly" Beany Foxes. She also will be selling some concrete fox statues, each one about the size of a lawn gnome. We just made up a batch and put primer on them, but I post this here hoping to get some info on what furries will want. Would most furs prefer to have statues that are prepainted, or would they prefer to paint the statues themselves? It is possible for some of the statues to come prepainted as red foxes and some others come unpainted for you all to add your own special touch to the little guy.

The other dealer who will be traveling with me plans to sell art supplies including sketchbooks, colored pencils, and other drawing utensils. She also plans to sell hand sewn cloth bags and Pajamas. The fabric used will be fox and wolf patterns. Before any work gets started on the pants, we were hoping to get some insight on the size range we should make the pajamas. We were looking at making them with a tie string on the waist so one size could fit anyone, but we need some info on the general size range most furries are in who would be interested in a set.

any input is appreciated,
CJ

Well I can honestly say as an artist It would be a blessing to have art supplies right there at hand if we run out, break, or lose something we use alot, like an eraser or colored pencils etc etc.

I know alot of furs would buy the sketchbooks to get sketchbook commissions from various artists. I got asked if I gave out free sketchbooks at ac this year with my sketchbook commissions, so I think they would sell good..lol.

For the statues it would be good to have pre-painted and non-painted. Some people just want to buy them, and others would like to paint so it would be good to have a variety there. Perhaps have a small pamphlet on 'hot to paint your statue' with tips and tricks and such to aid in those who want to paint there own.

As for the pajama's, it would be good to grab 3 models, probably an x-tra large, large and a medium and a small. I know I like to buy 1 size larger for pj's as they sometiems shrink in the wash. There really is no general number of specific size of furry sadly, we come in all shapes and sizes so it would be hard to get an estimate on what you would need for a size and just come with a variety. Thats the problem with selling clothing such as pants. Shirts are pretty basic but pants, lets face it are hell to buy and size right. I hate pants shopping.

Hope that input helps sweets.

yep, furries do come in all sorts of shapes, its exactly why I asked if it would even be a good idea to try to hand make the fox pajamas in a number of sizes. Would take forever, and the one dealer would have to charge a bit more than they were looking to charge. but we have an alternate product to replace the pajamas. We considered having tote bags made of the same fabric. It would be a little drawstring bag made from the same material. We could make more of them than the pajamas and they would be cheaper and easier to make. Probably be generally more useful than the pajamas.

Yep, the art supplies were something I suggested and she wasnt convinced they would sell, Ill be sure to show her this thread because you just reemphasized everything I told her when I suggested it(not to mention a few side reasons) ^.^

thanks a lot for the help,
CJ

The pajamas are an interesting and unique item that might go over well, but it's impossible to predict until someone tries it. Why not make a few in medium, large, and extra large, which are likely to sell out, and keep one sample on display to take orders to make and ship after the con? Be realistic on how long it'd take to fill the orders -- keep track of them on a calendar, if you can make, say 2 a week, write the customers' names on a calendar and tell them when you expect to have them done.

it might, but fyi, im still trying to convince them that the con is OK to go to and nothing bad will happen. One is agoraphobic and the other either is the same, or just doesnt feel like keeping track of whats going on, so I dont even know if shes still interested at all.

yeah, I know its really early, but like I said, I dont know if they are even gonna do it. Ill pass along the suggestion.

Er, if she is agorophobic, I do not think I would recommend that she attend something the size of Anthrocon.

technically she used to be, and the doc says it should have ended by now with all the treatments, but occasionally she reverts back, which is bad.

oh, and it looks like the pajama person is pulling out, she figures she will just sell them online. Keep an eye on furbid. Now as for the other lady. I still cant get ahold of her. ARRRRGHHH!!!! how come I got suckered into updating an advertisement for a store that probably isnt going to exist? oh well, ill have hope... at least for now anyways. Keep poking back in. I might have an update later.

If anything, the reason you keep getting "Suckered" into such actions is because your a nice guy, willing to help others when you can. Oh, and I was wondering about the Fox statues, got any links to pics so i can get a good look at them? Laughing out loud

Its easy to tell that I'm intrested in them.
